Rush ^ | August 5, 2004 | unknown

In Rush's closing segment he said that he just received a story or document saying that lawyers for both the Kerry and Edwards teams were sending out letters to TV stations warning them about showing the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth advertisement!

Cloris Leechmam? I can see Kerry hanging from a hook on a closet door. "More bondage, less discipline." ( for Mel Brooks fans )

Even if the Swift Boat piece includes errors, how is it any different than "Fahrenheit 911?"

Well, first off Michael Moore's film was a documentary. And as you should know...documentaries are full of facts.

Michael Moore is a great film maker...and all these guys in these attack ad, are just "rabid attack dogs" that probably never even really served...And if they did...they are probably just members of the VRWC..or employee's of Haliburton.

From the way the DNC threat read to me, it was a semantics issue. They said "the man who pretended to be the doctor who treated Senator Kerry" ... blah blah blah ...

From what I understand, the medical officer became a doctor. He didn't claim in the ad to be a doctor at the time he treated Kerry; his title was Medical Officer or similar.

That same thing goes for the whole of the threat letter.

Regardless, the vet in the ad never claimed to be a doctor, even if he now is one. Semantics. Bill Clinton redux.

Noone seems to have caught the fact that the lawyers letter mention that the doctor was not the one who signed Kerry's sick call sheet...

SICK CALL SHEET

Where is this sheet ?
Why is it not posted on Johnkerry.com ?
What are they hiding ?

The site is swiftvets.com. Salon must have purchased the swiftboatvets.com site for this purpose.

Where's Susan Sarandon's wife, Tim Robbins, and his complaining about the "chill wind blowing across this land"?

I hadn't heard they made their lovenest legal.

"If I know Republicans and their grass-roots operations, they'll spend most of their time trying to phone bank the Amish," said Kerry spokesman Mark Nevins.
Hey genius, they have no phones.

I think that was the guy's point -- calling pubbies stupid enough not to know that.

I should have said, "Susan Sarandon's common law wife, Tim Robbins..."

You know, it amazes me (but perhaps shouldn't) that many of those who support gay marriage don't have a personal commitment to marriage in their own lives. Not that I've heard "Mr. and Mrs. Saradon" talk-up gay marriage, but it's probably a good bet they support it. It's laughable that those who strongly support gay marriage thumb their nose at marriage in their own lives.

"The John Kerry campaign, without offering any proof said that Karl Rove is behind this ad."

Is Karl Rove also behind Kerry's perpetrated fraud regarding his "service" in Vietnam?

I hope Brit and FNC give this a good airing. But this is a good test...If FNC takes a dive on this one, it will be pretty solid proof that FNC has been corrupted.

And isn't Karl Rove the guy Joseph Wilson blamed for outing his wife, and who Wilson wanted to see frog-marched out of the WH in handcuffs? That Karl Rove? Jeez, talk about an idee fixe.

Actally, Hume and Co., with the exception of Barnes, wanted the Pubbies to IGNORE it. Krauthammer even suggested we might never know the truth, blaming the "fog of war"... Like self-inflicted wounds could be the result of the "fog of war". Or that, thanks to the "fog of war", rice in the butt could be mistaken for shrapnel.

Looks like we're on our own, folks.

Brit Hume was a huge disappointment. Appears his all-stars are pulling back from the story.

Well, that's what the Administration said as well. Using the word "deplorable"
to describe the ad. What's up??

I don't agree with this. Look, this is a negative ad. Remeber, nobody likes negative ads, or so they say; but they have been proven to work. And this is as negative as you can get.

This is a real hot potato for anyone in the "establishment" to handle. It almost works best if it's not endorsed by the mainstream. As long as the Dem's intimidation tactics don't succeed, and this ad stays on the air, then I think all is well. People will see it and will be affected by it.

The only exception to this would be if the Republicans come out and blast the ad as false. But they have been quite careful NOT to do that; rather, they simply repeat the mantra that "we have never questioned Kerry's military service and we won't start now."

I suspect that in the future, this will take a place alongside the Willie Horton myth as a false example of how low Pubs will go. But that myth hasn't really hurt us, IMO.

If FOX doesn't give it legs, it will have to grow its own. We'll have to keep the story alive, in this case.
