Texas cops thought they'd made a major drug bust when they raided a home northwest of Houston last Tuesday. After all, it looked like there were huge marijuana plants growing in the front yard.
"All of a sudden, they burst in with their guns loaded, pointing at me, screaming, 'Get on the floor! Get on the floor!'" northwest Harris County resident Blair Davis told KHOU-TV.

Considering the heavy involvement of state governments in gambling, I don't see where the moral authority to make the slippery-slope argument can come from.
You assume something that may not be valid.
I also thing the drug wars have been a waste. I'm against drug usage, but the amount of resources wasted to attempt to solve this problem is too large. We should legalize the sale of drugs similar to the sale of alcohol and tax the hell out of it. Notice that we can control the access to alcohol by minors better then we can control minor's access to drugs.
I can see how you or I could make the mistake, although the plants aren't all that close, but these clowns are supposed to be professionals.
By the way, they also didn't seem to be able to tell ornamental bamboo from dope.
Do they really have people who don't know what the plant smells like growing, or do they just not care?
So9
Ashton, aged maduro wrapper. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
You forgot money and property confiscated, which is either used or sold to fund further enforcement.
No. But I see little reason to spend so much money trying to suppress it. I see little reason to spend money trying to suppress tobacco. Tax it as high as you can without forcing it into the black market, and leave it at that.
That's one killer bud...
"Ashton, aged maduro wrapper. Mmmmmmmmmmmm."
LOL They always say the wrapper can make a big difference.
These Navy Seal wannabes need to use some common sense. Who do they imagine would grow pot on the front lawn? Someone as stupid as the cops authorizing the raid one would suppose.
How about this for starters. On a dark night walk an oficer into the front yard and take a sample of the plant for analysis.
If it had been marijuana the local heads would have stripped the plants bare.
Only if the ignore the LARGE COLORFUL FLOWERS.
Fire the cops, and enjoin them from owning guns. They are demonstrably too stupid to allow them to be armed.
"At one point, the officers discussed whether the bamboo in the window might be the demon weed as well, Davis told the Houston Chronicle. They also asked him what he planned to do with the watermelons and cantaloupes growing out back."
Not only did they not know what pot looks like, they evidently think the melons could be used illegally also. Wonder what they thought they would be used for?
My wife had a "wood rose",I think is the name, that caused several people to think we had MJ in our back yard.
"I can see how they made the mistake."
Yep, those photos are very close. I'm relieved my Hibiscus is the more commonly seen type. I don't need a bunch of cops screeching to a halt every time they pass my front porch.
As for this man, I wonder if he had a nice house. I believe being allowed to take property and keep recovered cash one of the worse laws passed. Kind of like the fox guarding the hen house.
If they were made illegal through an abuse of the Commerce Clause, would you argue to continue that abuse because cigarettes can cause lung cancer?
The 9/11 Report says that on 9/11 the FBI had twice as much manpower devoted to fighting the War on Drugs than it did fighting the War on Terror. What does that tell you?
Yes, I agree. And the pot money helps the cartels finance their other operations, which are much more dangerous to our lives.
But what are they using for filler, hmmmmmmmmmm?
They had good reason to think that.
"Those too stoned or impatient to count out hundreds o morning-glory seeds may find Hawaiian baby wood rose (Argyreia nervosa), another legal member of the bindweed family, easier to handle.
Because these seeds are so large, it only. takes from four to eight to get the tripper on his way. The immature seeds from this plant contain a healthy dose of lysergic acid amides, strychnine, and several other alkaloids. Both in terms of effect and chemistry, Hawaiian baby wood rose is almost identical to the more potent varieties of LSD-like morning-glory seeds."
