The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

re: British terror arrests

AP updates: The suspects, who are all in their 20s and 30s, will be brought to a central London police station for questioning by anti-terrorism officers, police said. They declined to specify the men’s nationalities, but the British Broadcasting Corp. said they were all of South Asian descent and some were thought to be British citizens.

Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said he was “extremely concerned” that Tuesday’s arrests came so soon after the American alert and just before a Parliamentary group is expected to release its report on the Terrorism Act.

“The timing is very worrying and it is extremely annoying, especially when it actually affects the lives of ordinary people and they are suffering,” he said. “It is increasing Islamophobia.”

I know that psycho's and terrorists can trump big former football players. I think that there were probably big athletic guys on the planes on 9/11. Most bigger guys are never given the challenge of having to get into a hand to hand situation; because of their size.

While in our 18 years together I have never personally seen him loose his cool in any way. Those who knew him in college won't even tell me some of their stories. I know one story about him a two others who chased down and pummeled two guys who tried to car-jack an older woman. He is a quiet, intelligent gentleman who has enough bad-ass attitude to take care of business.

Question: As for rifles, sir, if someone had a choice between a nice lever-action 30-30 with iron sights, and a clean Yugoslav SKS M59, each costing about $200, which one should be chosen?

Assume this would be a second or third rifle, and that this rifle is to be for bringing along hunting and camping in the mountains, as well as plinking and, of course, the practical defense of self and others.

Can a deer (much less an elk) be taken with a 7.62x39 commie-cartridge? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated, sir.

Maybe, but they really don't look *that much* alike. Osama is an Arab, Obama has a white mother (from Kansas!) and an African (not African American) father. While their noses and basic face shape are similar, their eyes are different. Osama's eyes are sort of like the ones that run in my family, including mine. Downturned at both corners. Obama's ears are larger and quite a bit differently shapped as well. Osama has a more receeded forehead as well.

BagCam....those numbers are stunning!!! I hope that the Bush Campaign picks-up the Illegal Immigration problem as a platform. In these days of increased threats and South African passports; to have our government not closed-down the borders is lunacy.

Personally I think that Israel building their wall is the way to go. Our borders being so extensive....I favor landmines and razorwire.

N.J. Governor Calls for More Anti-Terror Funding

NEW YORK — New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey complained to President Bush on Tuesday that his state would be disproportionately hurt by proposed cuts in federal funding for anti-terrorism efforts, just as New Jersey’s threat level is rising.

In a letter to the president, McGreevey, a Democrat, noted that New Jersey also bore the responsibility — and the increasing expense — of helping to protect and assist New York City during extraordinary events, such as the Republican National Convention at the end of the month.

“However,” McGreevey wrote, “while your administration has dedicated approximately $82 million to New York City for RNC security preparations, New Jersey has yet to receive any additional funding — even though our law enforcement agencies play a major role in the region’s counterterrorism operations.”

McGreevey’s complaint came two days after five northern New Jersey counties were upgraded to orange alert status — indicating a high risk of a terrorist attack — in response to federal warnings naming the Newark, N.J., headquarters of Prudential Financial Inc. as one of five prominent financial institutions targeted by al-Qaida for possible attack by car or truck bombs.

The governor called on Bush “to immediately address New Jersey’s outstanding request for reconsideration of your extreme Homeland Security budget cuts, as well our request for increased Homeland Security funding to New Jersey overall.”
