LONDON (AP) Police conducted anti-terrorism raids in London and several towns Tuesday, arresting 13 people believed involved in preparing terrorist acts.
Londons Metropolitan Police said the afternoon and evening arrests were part of a pre-planned, on-going intelligence-led operation.
They said men were detained on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, but did not elaborate.
The police said the arrests were in northwest London, suburban Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and in Lancashire, northwestern England. Detectives were searching homes in all those locations, police said.
The suspects, who are all in their 20s and 30s, will be brought to a central London police station for questioning by anti-terrorism officers, police said.
Todays operation is part of continuing and extensive inquiries by police and the Security Service into alleged international terrorism, the police statement said.

I've never heard the one about the newspaper, but that sounds pretty good. I'll have to test fly it.
Improvised weapons are definitely an art the terrorist will discover if they mess with ordinary Americans on an aircraft in flight, if they havent already with flight 93.
There are a lot of the warrior class out there who would not hesitate to introduce the goblins to that little art.
I used to carry a kubaton a few years back, when I was in law enforcement. They do a good job when you use them on the nerve plex by the ribs, but I wouldnt recommend that for beginners. Excellent for escort and control of rowdy drunks.
How about serving Pork on the airflights? And passing out Pork Rinds instead of Peanuts or Pretzels?
Bump sending this to everyone I know, especially the libs

It looks like all clear here..finally
I'm a little loopy today, having dodged another hurricane. Just got my house put back together from the last one.
Now about that next pesky little hurricane....I'll worry next week.
She said the men had been dressed by police in white paper suits and their hands and feet covered with plastic bags before they were driven away.
Makes you think bio or chem . . .
Southern communities, including Bedouin villages, will get Logol tablets starting next week. Residents near Soreq facility to receive them in several weeks. Amir Buhbut
Logol anti-radiation pills are to be distributed as of Sunday to residents of Dimona and Yeroham. In addition, residents of Aruar, Kseife, Naot Hakikar, Ein Tamar, Hazeva and the Bedouin villages in the Negev will get the tablets.
During the first stage, Home Front Command soldiers are to pass from door to door and hand out kits that include the pills and an information brochure about the use of the pills and possible hazards.
In the second stage, which is slated to begin in several weeks, kits will be distributed in Yavne and communities in the area of the Soreq Nuclear Research Facility.
I'll have to look that up.
I try to keep up with the latest, and thats another I missed. Must be getting rusty...
bttt!
That has to be BIO-CHEM.
If they had their hands and feet in baggies for forensic evidence preservation the police would use paper baggies to wrap around the hands and feet because it breathes and preserves the evidence better.
LOL...that post failed miserably!
I agree, most unusual and that is the only thing that would come to mind as well. Perhaps British Chick could confirm if this is common handling proceedures or unusual.
