The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

That's exactly the information that this thread would find interesting and informative, nwctwx. We will get alot of general info, but who knows what else when we add it all up...

I am not surprised that your family member in customs knows less than you about the info provided on TM and in other places. But I wonder why he or she is confident that the broader plans of al qaeda will be stopped in all cases.

The 911 operatives also were clean shaven and I think freshly shaved the night before their deadly deed. One of their rituals. I do remember the "how-tos" written for cell members after 911 on how to blend into neighborhoods, though. Still, I see Muslims in my area and some are fully bearded (guess that is a good thing). I think that NYC will surveill clean/freshly shaven Arab males more closely to see if they are up to anything.

Homicide bombers is what I think they are most worried about in NYC. But that is only my opinion. I will try to get more detailed info tomorrow. No one is ever truly prepared for all the questions I can rapidly throw at them. And they do not realize the significance of some of them. That can work to my advantage sometimes. Most people like to answer in yes's and no's and that is never ever enough for me. I want details; I want outline answers with all the subsequent Roman numerals and the letters and the numbers!

I went easy on my contact and will go for the second hit tomorrow if possible. And of course, I will ask about gut feelings and rumors, because they can be key.

In one of my past professions early on, I was told information on a "need to know" basis only. Step by step sometimes. For example, say someone would tell me to drive to a certain location. When I arrived, I would call and say I was there. Then they would tell me to see if a certain make car was there; I would scan and say yes or no. If no, the assignment was finished. If yes, then they would say go look at the car, see what is inside it and call back. I would look and call them back and tell them there is a cop uniform in the back seat, etc. And only then would I start getting the full picture of what needed to be done. They would not reveal more info to me unless it was necessary or until it was necessary. Overall info was never given to me before it was necessary in most cases. I wonder if this is what is happening all over the U.S. with many folks on the ground in key cities.

For example, if NY is looking out for clean shaven Arabs, does the LE community and others know what these men might be up to? Or have they not been told that yet? Are they supposed to notify others higher up then them if they come across a suspicious Arab? And do the Feds actually know what these Arabs are supposedly up to themselves? Are they pedestrian bombers; are they carrying assault rifles, etc.? What if Tom Ridge and others were truthful in saying that the recent threat was specific in targets cited, but not method of hit?

This is why I am so intrigued.

I referred to that Hitchen's information several times on the threads - that is indeed one thing to look for, a tip loop would exist amongst the insiders and their friends and families (and it would be big), if this nuke thing ever materialized. and you'd see some big, unexplained drop in the stock market.

I don't think anyone except the pilots on 9-11 were aware of the intention to crash the airplanes into the buildings. I believe the helpers in the cabin were under the impression that it was a simple hijacking.

Anyone recruited to light off the nukes will have plenty of time to clear close family without tipping anyone off.

IIRC, way back when, the KGB published a sort of spy manual in hard copy that extolled how they handled agents on US territory: How to spot tails, surveil safehouses, lose multiple tails and communicate in a clandestine manner. Might it be possible that AQ is using some of those techniques?

If they exist, the nuke cells have got to be the biggest operation since we managed to keep the Manhattan Project a secret. It can be done, but these guys won't risk any sort of exposure on any level. Their contacts will be face to face only in an area extremely difficult to surveil with any sort of electronic device or via direct observation.

Oh, no. Nothing to do with Threads, actually.

It's just what has always been evident to me. Nobody can protect us, not really. We have to be vigilant and wary, we have to take care of those around us.

We'll have to get to the point where people on a local/state level respond as was done in the Civil War.

Even the elderly, including my ancestor who was in his late 60s, very old then, was part of a state militia. He was one of those whose job it was to protect the bridges in his area. He was an immigrant, from Germany, and I can believe he must have been proud to protect his adopted land.

I only hope we have enough immigrants today who want to be true citizens of their new land, as he and my other ancestors were.

fact: We have all seen [I have] many islamics that hang with, and look like [on purpose I presume] like like-skinned blacks, whites and hispanics..clean shaven, etc...in other words, they are trying to look non-Arabic.

theory: The reason they have been told to "blend in" is not because all of them are involved in an imminent attack, but so they will have a defense/disguise against being "taken out" by us patriots after the real attack happens. This way the ones remaining can cause more mahem without being suspected or killed.

Man said to be Zarqawi captured: Reports

An Iraqi website says US forces have captured its most wanted Islamic militant, Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi.

Reports said the man was arrested in western Iraq near the border with Syria and his blood has been taken for testing in Baghdad for identification.

According a report by Xinhua, a man said to be Jordanian militant Abu Musab Zarqawi, whose Tawhid and Jihad group has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks in Iraq, was captured during a joint operation by coalition forces and Iraqi police, a Kuwait newspaper reported Friday.

The newspaper quoted a senior Iraqi police official as saying that the US and Iraqi investigators are trying to identify the captive, who was seized at the border of Iraq and Syria, and has sent his DNA sample for test.
