Newspaper Claims Moore Altered Front Page
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | August 1, 2004 | AP

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Filmmaker Michael Moore's Bush-bashing documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" has apparently upset more than Republicans. The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington said Friday it sent a letter to Moore and the film's distributor, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., asking for an apology for using what it said was a doctored front page in his movie.

The paper is seeking $1 in damages.

A scene early in the movie shows newspaper headlines related to the contested 2000 presidential election. It includes a shot of The Pantagraph's Dec. 19, 2001, front page, with the prominent headline, "Latest Florida recount shows Gore won election."

The newspaper says that headline never appeared on that day.

The paper said the headline appeared in a Dec. 5, 2001, edition but was not used on the front page. Instead, it was found in much smaller type above a letter to the editor, which the paper says reflects "only the opinions of the letter writer."

"If (Moore) wants to 'edit' The Pantagraph, he should apply for a copy-editing job," the paper said.

Neither Lions Gate nor Moore were immediately available for comment Sunday

What I find particularly discouraging is the confusion people seem to increasingly experience between movies and reality...the willingness of so many liberals to uncritically accept the Big Lie ... does not bode well for the future of democracy.

Every evening young Americans troop off to the movies where they watch just about anything Hollywood throws their way. Why? Because they have nothing else to do and nowhere else to go for entertainment. Then they come home and turn on their television sets where they watch silly programs like the West Wing, Sex in the City, Sopranos and programs like JFK, the Reagans, MASH etc. Liberals object to being "misled" by large corporations such as Halliburton however they seem to be unafraid and unaware of the Vast Left-wing corporate media that is pouring misleading them from movie screens, television sets and MP3 players.

I copied this and sent it to people in my e-mail address book including the BC'04 Campaign, the GOP HQ in many battleground states, Hannity, O'Reilly, and Rush.

Thanks for the article.

It is amazing that we pay good money to watch people play pretend.

Then they have the nerve to pretend to play pretend.

The paper is seeking $1 in damages.

If a Republican had done something like that it would be $1,000,000 in damages.

I think that in some courts if you have to sue for damages to also allow you to sue for attorney's fees. It's just a technicality Maybe they want Moore to pick up their legal bill, too.

Literally millions are falling all over themselves to see this "documentary". Can there be that many deluded people? Yes. Do we repeatedly overestimate the intelligence of the American voter? Absolutely!

What do you get when you allow (indeed encourage and almost require) the (low) very tail end of the intelligence curve to vote? The malaise we are living through.

Why is it a surprise that when we "allow" the same mentality to make "documentaries", and to serve as elected (!) representatives elected by morons and neurotics, that things generally get more chaotic, divided and on the brink of a national riot?

He, the retired journo, stated that while the film may (his word) have a few errors in it, the film was still well worth seeing.

Well, let's thank God for small favors, if this guy is retired.

If he can't understand the distinction between "error" and deliberate fraud calculated to persuade by deception, then we need to worry about the "apprentice" he leaves behind. "Progressive", Communist and Socialist fraud is relentless!

Ask him if he'll make the same statement about The Clinton Chronicles.

It is so irrational, that I think it can only be explained by on-going battles that are not temporal.

It appears that Moore is incapable of telling the truth.

Propagandists rarely tell the truth.

Maybe Moore will win an Oscar for special effects...

That's very good. Kidding aside, he will probably get something from the moron crowd in Hollywood - best documentary......

They should have a new catagory - best hit piece.

What a surprise! He did the same thing in "Bowling for Columbine", not only editing two campaign ads into one (Willie Horton) but altering the text of the ad.

No wonder the Left loves the NEA and public education. Keeping the electorate dumb, depressed, dependent and Democrat is the best way to stay in power.

It appears that Moore is incapable of telling the truth. A pathological liar, it would seem.

Being a pathological liar is relished/required character trait for a vast majority of liberals.
