NEW GALLUP POLL WILL SHOW BUSH UP BY 3. BEFORE THE CONVENTION, KERRY LED BY 4.

I've heard the worst bounce in history was 7 points for a challenger. This is a -7 point 'bounce'.

It says minus 7. There just happen to be about 6 threads on the same thing right now.

Read the initial post. It is a 7 point negative bounce, just as posted in the article. The title was sarcastic.

The worst prior to this was a -3 point 'bounce' for McGovern in 1972.

This isn't a bounce, it's a SPLAT!

I think the opposite of a "bounce" would be a "thud." Or possibly a "freefall". :-)

Crater.

Or just "splat".

This will be known as the "black hole" bounce.

Remeniscent of McGovern's "Lawn Dart" bounce back in '72.

To think the safey weenies have denied an entire generation the joy of playing with lawn darts...

Americans are far smarter than the Dims will give them credit for, they saw his hypocracy while he said he is against negativity and is for optimism while at the same time trashing the president and making snide remarks. Statements like reporting for duty and take back our democracy are very alienating not to mention his continual statements on how we alienated our allies when in fact our allies alienated us.

Kinda odd result .... perhaps the Democrat Convention convinced the Republican base that yes, they are likely voters in the fall? Nothing like a love-fest between the Ambiguously Gay Duo to make conservatives decide they need to go to the polls.

They'll sue all 50 states to make sure Kerry wins by litigation.

If you look at the internals of the Newsweek poll, Kerry went from +19 (53-34) to +6 (45-39) among Independents, so they reweighted the new poll to have 10% fewer Independents and 10% more Democrats in order to show a 2.84% Kerry bounce (4 points after rounding).

Or else 10% of the electorate was so impressed by the Convention that they changed their affiliation from Independent to Democrat.

Hey, it could happen....

This is nice.
OTOH, Rasmussen has a positive four point bounce, putting Kerry over 50%.

Time to hack away at the rhetoric. But keep things in perspective: there just aint a lot of undecideds out there to give Bush much of a bounce either. Granted, Kerry's support isn't as firm as Bush's, but they just have to show up on that one day.

I'm showing my youth here....

What's a lawn dart? And what's a "Lawn Dart" bounce?

After all that bellicose militaristic posturing, I bet a lot of Kerry "formerly decideds" will start shopping around. Look for Nader to get the biggest bounce of all.
