NEW GALLUP POLL WILL SHOW BUSH UP BY 3. BEFORE THE CONVENTION, KERRY LED BY 4.
I've heard the worst bounce in history was 7 points for a challenger. This is a -7 point 'bounce'.
TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2004; bush; dncconvention; gallup; kerry; kerrybounce; poll; polls

Well, my faith in the American electorate has been revived. McGovern was hopeless, but at least he seemed to be honest, if foolish. Kerry can't conceal the fact that he's a charmless liar married to a $3 billion dominatrix needing thorazine.

Well, there were some snide remarks about Ben's disintegrating film career. Not such an asset, after all.

Funny. An article by Andy Borowitz of Jewish World Review had some amusing lines about Affleck and THE CURSE:
In other convention news, actor Ben Affleck was ejected from the Fleet Center in Boston after Democratic Party officials feared that his long-running losing streak at the box office might spread to the Kerry-Edwards ticket in the fall.
While party officials downplayed talk of an "Affleck curse," insiders acknowledged that the actor's presence at the convention had become an unwelcome distraction.
"Maybe it's the lingering effects of 'Gigli,' but every time Ben walked into the building the bomb-sniffing dogs went crazy," one insider said.

I was speaking in the context of his political views. Those are much more reasonable and mainstream than most of the party has now. Because of such he is mostly out of step with where the Democrats are going now.
I don't get that upset with those kind of statements you mention now because a lot of water under the bridge now.
I suspect he says some of those things to keep up what street credibility he has left with the extreme left wing of the party.

His earlier lead of 47.45-43.56 was 3.89 points, his current lead of 49.01-42.28 is 6.73 points, bounce is 2.84 points, but when you round it looks like 47-44 going to 49-42, a 4-point movement.
But the rounding stuff is petty larceny. Changing the party composition of the sample from 27% Dems, 44% Independents to 37% Dems, 34% Independents is grand theft.

Sorry! (blush!) I should have known bondjamesbond would be well aware of deadly weapons...
But you are the first person I ever met that really DOES have a scar from a lawn dart.

Wrist-slitting time at DU. Is there a thread on DU about this possible 7 point swing in Bush's favor? If so, I would love someone to link it and ping me.

I wonder what they'll say if GW Bush comes out of the Republican convention with a + 8 to 10 point bounce. Impossible. All week, over and over by every expert all I was told is that there are so few undecided voters that a bounce of any kind is virtualy impossible.
