Interesting. Except for Dole, the Dem bounce beats the Pub bounce every election year since 1972. And they don't seem to correlate to who ended up winning.

Very true..... It's what happens after Labor day when the campaigns really begin and the last week or so when the casual voter begins to tune in.....

Boy, I remember that year with horror. The Dems won everything in sight and Clinton was elected. I went to the gun shop and bought a .357 magnum for the criminals that I feared Clinton's judges would release into the streets and to beat the prohibitions on buying guns that were sure to come from all these elected Democrats.

Fortunately, and as bad as it was, we all survived. We wiped them out in 1994 and the rest of the decade was a stalemate.

"Too many voters are still watching summer reality shows and staying out late at the parks and malls, and are paying about zero interest in the election at this point."

How can you say that? I was just told by a legislator here in CA that the reason the voters weren't paying attention wasn't because they were having fun or were too stupid - it was because they are so very busy working two and three jobs to keep their heads above water.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to ask him where they were getting these jobs since he (he's a dim) and his cohorts were telling us there are no jobs!

Put the watch up for the Larry Flynt, Chris Lahane and other toilet dwellers to begin the slime flinging. This DNC creating class warfare while putting up 2 rich lawyers is beyond reason. The Kerry Edwards machine will look for dirty tricks and slime to assist them. The last time we saw operatives stealing debate practice tapes. The books and films put out to defeat GW Bush are reason enough to vote for the Bush. Why would anyone vote for George Soros and Mike Moore's choice? Ugh

except for the LA Slimes all of these polls can at least be used for trending purposes, if not for absolute levels.

I heard that Newsweak upped the sampling for Dems in their new poll...

No kidding. I really worry about this stuff. The nastiness and the political division in this country could lead to bloodshed. We ought to be trying to heal the rift. Trouble is, the left is so far out, one begins to suspect they are something worse than stupid, and to doubt they can be redeemed. Yet if they can be, one shouldn't indulge in schadenfreude.

OTOH I'm human and will likely do some gloating, hopefully only in the faces of the not-to-be-redeemed lefties. Maybe a nice Supreme Court T-shirt with 4 empty squares and the caption (R) beneath each one. :)

It's interesting that CNN paid for this poll but you can't find news of this "negative bounce" anywhere on CNN's web-site.

"Wolf Blitzer just dropped this bomb on Howard Dean"

I'm glad someone finally dropped a bomb on him. And from a totally unexpected source.

Looks like shirt went around the world in a bunny suit which envenerated the base and Sharpton took Vrwc up on the 40 acres and a mule. Moore is right, he has an influence with America - albeit negative.

I pretty much expect Bush to be presidential about it and not be gloating in public.

However, I'll be gloating all the way because the opposition talks lots of trash.

Here's what I posted on another thread that got pulled because it was a duplicate:

"You see this DU rats? Yes you guys do!

Let me put this in perspective DU rats. McGovern got more of a bounce in 1972, and he had a ZERO % bounce.

Kerry gets a -1 Bush gets +4 Hahahaa"

This Gallup poll report is now online:

http://www.gallup.com/content/?ci=12565

My favorite quotes in this report:

"Compared with the last CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey conducted before the convention (July 19-21), this post-convention poll shows that among likely voters, Kerry's support is actually two points lower than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is three points higher. Among registered voters, Kerry's support in the current poll is one point higher than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is also higher, by two points (the percentage of undecideds dropped in both groups)."

"All of these changes are within the margin of error, meaning that we cannot be 95% certain that Bush gained on Kerry after the convention. However, clearly there is no convention bounce for Kerry."

"An analysis of convention bounces since 1950 shows that on average, among registered voters, the Democratic candidate received approximately a seven-point increase in support following the convention. The current poll shows only a one-point increase among registered voters. In addition, following previous Democratic conventions, the Republican candidate also lost an average of about five points, making the net effect essentially a 12-point swing in the lead. The current poll shows only a 1-point swing in the lead among registered voters, but for the Republican, not the Democrat."

"In the three-way race, Kerry lost a point among likely voters after the convention, and he neither gained nor lost among registered voters. Bush gained four points both among likely voters and among registered voters. To the extent that there is any bounce in this three-candidate ballot, it is for Bush rather than Kerry."

"The CNN/USA Today/Gallup surveys over the past several months have shown surprising stability in the presidential contest, with both candidates' support levels varying within a narrow range. Kerry led by six points in early March, but then Bush led by six in mid-April. In early June, Kerry led by six, but that moved to a virtual tie, until Kerry led by five in early July. Now Bush leads by four."

I'm sensing a slight wane in the bias this season

I was wondering if this might be true.

CNN went to the trouble to replay Theresa's speech to prove that she used the term "Unamerican" prior to the "shove it" retort.

At the time, I commented to my wife that I was surprised that they had bothered to substantiate the reporter's position.

Registering voters for the Republican Party this weekend, I've notice a decided change in response in people.

A month or so ago there was such hostility toward Bush, particularly with the Michael Moore-on types.

This weekend the people were much more receptive, other than the occasional Michael Moore-on who still believe Moore's crap. And I'm in a county that's 45%-29% in favor of Democrats. Probably twice the new registrations/re-registrations this weekend than in past weeks.

The people saw the convention and are scared s**tless over what they saw.

Don't anyone get overconfident just yet. Work like the good guys are behind, because make no mistake, if it's close again, you know the Rats will try to steal it again.
