Second passenger saw suspicious behavior (Syrian musicians)
Washington Times ^ | 7/30/04 | Audrey Hudson

Government officials are questioning a passenger's account of alarming and suspicious behavior by Syrian musicians aboard a recent flight to Los Angeles, although a second passenger has corroborated the events.
The second passenger, a frequent business traveler who asked not to be identified, provided a copy of her itinerary confirming she was on the June 29 Northwest Airlines Detroit-to-Los Angeles Flight 327, which was disrupted by 14 Syrian passengers later identified as musicians.
The passenger, who was riding in first class, said the constant foot traffic and strange behavior she witnessed in the front cabin frightened her as much as it did Annie Jacobsen, the first passenger who publicly reported the incident.
"I thought I was going to die," the second passenger told The Washington Times. "And that makes me furious because that's the whole point of terrorism, to make people afraid. It makes me mad that they achieved that. But I'm not letting it stop me from taking other trips."
The incident on Flight 327 highlighted concerns that terrorists have been making "dry runs" on commercial jets in preparation for attacks.
Homeland Security and FBI officials briefed Senate Judiciary Committee staffers Wednesday. The House Judiciary Committee also is conducting an oversight review of what happened on the flight.
Federal officials agreed the activity was suspicious but doubted the account by Mrs. Jacobsen and her husband, said one staffer who attended the briefing.
"They emphasized repeatedly there were material discrepancies between what the two [passengers] reported and what the flight attendants and federal air marshals observed," the staffer said.
Air marshals, pilots and flight attendants, however, back the passenger's account because they say such events are happening regularly.

Finally, it'll take more than three passengers to make the case that the scene was really that bad.

By my count the welcome committee that met the plane when it landed puts the count way above three.

If you have a big group of people who all know each other riding on the same plane, especially if they're Latin Americans, Middle Easterners, or drunk Japanese businessmen, there's going to be a lot of coming and going on the flight.

Bringing you up to date on the comings and goings:

1) At first they acted as if they did not know each other.

2) Acquaintances visit from seat to seat, they don't party in the toilet.

Unnamed federal air marshalls were quoted by the AP saying Mr and Mrs. Jacobsen overreacted, yet the federal air marshall group are the ones who now got the senate and house committees to investigate the incident. The FAMs smear the Jacobsens, yet they call for a congressional investigation of the incident?

The behavior on this flight was very suspicious, but what about the return flight? They also flew on Jet Blue from Long Beach to New York on either July 1 or 2. Are their any Jet Blue accounts of the 14 Syrians?

Why were they allowed to continue their US travel when their visas were expired?

why does the Feds response seem to echo the one about ..."exploding center fuel tanks"?...there seems to be as much "disinformation" here about this episode as there is about TWA800

It's long past time to put an Israeli-style wall all along the Mexican border.

You're being ethnocentric.

But the only true Homeland Security is John and Jane Q. Public with a loaded shotgun at home, and a CCW for the road.

This is the real story. No amount of hourly-paid surveillance is gonna stop every attempt at another 9/11... PERIOD! They'll yellow-tape off the disaster sites with meticulous care but that's about it.

The DC snipers were found by a truck driver. The LAX bomber was found by the diligence of one dedicated, female official.

We got the 'friggin marshals dressed up in Brooks Bro's. suits and the media broad-casted it on national TV!

Good idea. Do you remember right after 9-11 a pilot gave some recommendations for passengers? It was a pretty good list of things to do, and one of them included introducing yourself to those near you, etc. I also remember he said something about all the passengers throwing their shoes at a terrorist. It was on Paul Harvey. Wish I could see that one again.

Sometimes, there is no better word than "f*ck" -- just had that discussion with my Sister the other day.

You're right.

And I've had that sick feeling in my stomach since about this time last year when I read news like this. For those who have been following WOT news, the totality of the news is undeniable. But because MSM doesn't cover 95% of it, and because we're a Nation with a VERY short memory, 95% of the country is oblivious to the current danger.

95% (or more) of the country is literally in the dark about terrorist activities right under our noses. And they believe anything in print - so if it's in the newspaper that the 14 Syrians were Musicians (not Terrorists), then it must be so.

When was the last time anyone saw a passport that read: "Abdul al Mohammed, Terrorist" or "Wahib bin Hussein, Homicide Bomber" ?? Just because they are Musicians does not mean they are not ALSO terrorists, contrary to ignorant beliefs.

Can ya tell I'm frustrated?????

That's an interesting take on it. Evidently there's been a lot of this type of activity. It sure seems they'd have some top guy by now.

Airline fligth crews are strident in their conviction that this has been taking place a lot. I just pray we don't dilly-dally one flight too many.

I was unaware of that song. It certainly puts things in a different light. Not only does this guy think an ode to a suicide bomber's mother is called for, but he obviously wishes to paint the bomber and his family in a rosy hero's scenario.

Deport this sicko yesterday!

The general public is largely unaware of these dry runs. I'm surprised that there's such ignorence "out there". If you don't listen to conservative talk radio or TV or hang on FR or Newsmax, you have no idea about these terrorist dry runs.
