A majority of voters say they know little about John F. Kerry's positions on key issues and want the Democratic presidential candidate to detail specific plans for handling the economy, Iraq and the war on terrorism when he addresses the Democratic National Convention and a nationally televised audience on Thursday, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
he survey suggests that the stakes for Kerry and the Democrats as they began their convention in Boston could not be higher. In barely a month, Kerry has lost ground to President Bush on every top voting issue in this year's election.
A growing proportion of voters say Bush and not Kerry is the candidate who most closely shares their values, and four in 10 believe the Democrat is "too liberal." Bush has even narrowed the gap on which candidate better understands their problems, an area in which Kerry has led.
The poll suggests that negative ads by the Bush-Cheney campaign that have been airing since early March, as well as attacks by Republican officials, have been increasingly successful in planting the image of Kerry as an unreliable leader who flip-flops on the issues -- perceptions that Democrats will work hard to reverse at their convention.

Before his departure, the Apache Tribe presented the Presidential candidate a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, Running Eagle. After Kerry left, tribal officials, being asked what the name meant, explained that Running Eagle is a bird so full of $hit it can't fly.

Simple...he's for both sides of any issue.

Notice how carefully msnbc chooses their words, inferring that Republicans are PLANTING an image of Kerry.
Would be much more correct if you simply substitute the word EXPOSING

One notable comment I noticed last night - Jerry Springer said that paraphrased "You can't know a candidate by his voting record - you have to listen to him speak"!
I thought no wonder liberals are so illogical.
One of the most important things I have taught my kids is NEVER listen to what people say, watch what they DO.
Any time the Republican is ahead in an alphabet poll - ABCCBSNBCCNN - it's good news. I'm sure this is slanted the usual way, with way more Democrats surveyed than Republicans, etc., since that is the liberals' standard procedure. Still, I have a sneaking suspicion that all these suddenly grim articles about Kerry - such as the weekend AP analysis about him being behind in electoral votes - is just setting up all the "Comeback Kid" and "What a perfect convention" stories that will carry the liberal media through August.

This is the subtle, more damaging kind of liberal bias the Nets like to use... It's along the lines of Cheney's "SECRET meetings" with energy executives to develope engergy policy when "PRIVATE meetings" would be a more accurate but less nefarious choice... Nice catch...
This poll (ABCWaPo)is remarkable in that they use a 35/34/29 D/R/I mix, and Bush is still winning. Kerry is in deep trouble. The more people know of him, the less they like him.

The DIMs will have to lie their pants off to accomplish this task.
It's evident a majority of Americans don't feel Kerry is bringing anything to the table ... he simply resorts to Bush bashing hoping that will propel his candidacy to the oval office. Isn't working and won't work ... people, fence sitters and conservatives, may not agree with every Bush decision ... but are confident overall in his leadership. Kerry is an unknown for the most part and his ultra-liberal credentials (in spite of the best efforts of his allies in the mainstream media to put them in a positive light) are a distinct liability.
They will work hard to change the "perception", but I'm willing to bet the farm that they won't lift a finger to change the "reality."
Translated, this just means that the Democrats will use the convention to lie to their base.
The only way they can change reality is to have Sandy Berger steal Senate voting recording and change them.
