The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

A weather inversion?

Basically when air above the ground (in the 10,000-30,000 foot range) is warmer than air at ground level. It tends to cause polutants to become trapped at ground level. Usually, air above the surface at that level is quite cold and surface air rises above it. It is partly what causes the smog problem in LA.

Whenever I think about the problems with our borders, I tend to concentrate on what is coming from the south and maybe the Seattle area....but this adds an entirely different perspective.

Pakistan says captures a "most wanted" Qaeda man

DUBAI, July 29 (Reuters) - Pakistan has arrested a senior al Qaeda figure with a bounty of up to $25 million on his head, Interior Minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat told CNN television on Thursday.

He said the suspect had been captured during a raid in central Pakistan a few days ago. He did not identify the captive but said he was "a person who is most wanted internationally".

Al Arabiya satellite news channel quoted Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf as saying the suspect was arrested on Sunday.

"The Pakistani president said the arrested person is Tanzanian who is married to an Uzbek woman, and who is wanted by the United States," the station said.

Al Arabiya said the suspect may be Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian who is on the FBI's most wanted "terrorists" list for his alleged role in the 1998 bombings by al Qaeda of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

Ghailani was among seven people about whom the United States said in May it was seeking information amid fears of a possible attack in the near future.

Just the timing along with the still missing tanker from New Jersey earlier this year, these stories just tend to make me take notice.

I understand and in a post-911 world I think the press (as well as us) may be more sensitive to the theft of such materials, especially since there is the potential for terrorist use. The only thing is, where did they put thousands of gallons/pounds (since they don't specify the hazwaste) when they emptied the trailier.
