I know it is late afternoon on Friday for me to get a good response to this posting, however, I am constantly thinking that the US government should come clean, and admit that they lied to us about the shoulder to air missile that hit the TWA flight 800 in the NYC harbor.
I do appreciate that they lied to protect the flying public from panicking, however, after 9/11, and after the wall to wall public education regarding fanatic Islam, it would not be harmful to day to admit the truth.
Please let me know your views?
I don't like that they lied to us about JFKs' assasination!
In fact I don't like liars ... period!

Altitude or range? I've seen the range listed as three miles.
I have the same theory. However, I cannot explain why W Bush chooses to cover up for Clinton, instead of uncovering this news and put Clinton in the can?
True only if you are shooting at a stationary object at that altitude.
Operational altitude, that at which a missile can make an intercept on a moving aircraft is much lower.
So9
A helicopter unit training that night got a presidential "shut up" order from Bubba about it as well.
They have Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) that detects missile launches and warns the pilot over the "Bitchin' Betty".
Not sure exactly how it works, I was artillery not a heckabug driver, but I remember a news interview with a pilot type and he said he thought the missile was coming at him.
After that, that unit was told to shut up, and the newsies seemed to expunge the tapeof the broadcast.
my brother in law, who is a pilot for a major airline, belives to this day that flight was shot down... he said the very next day, a missle shot it down.
TWA 800 was at 13,000 feet when the event happened. Try again.
I'm not opposed to the theory that TWA 800 was hit by a missile - but the theories have to mesh with the facts - and the fact is that TWA 800 was too high for a shoulder-fired missile. It would have to have been shipborne and ship-mounted.
Flight 800 was at 2.45 miles when it was hit, meaning the missile had been fired when 800 was at a lower altitude.
It was in it's climbout phase when it was taken down.
In a hundred years from now, the truth will surface.
Altitude.
That's what we were told.
An MK-26 maybe?
Seriously,I did not even chose the activism section, it probably comes in automatically in my setting because I am read mainly the activism section.
Its also obvious that the gov't positioned itself control the release of information and that it was worried about the cause. Its not so obvious that they actually did block information.
Stingers travel at supersonic speeds. It would have arrived within 30 seconds or so of launch. TWA 800 would not have climbed very far in that interval.
No, just don't select Activism/Chapters when you select Topics, unless it is a post specifically about direct activism.
Personally, metal fatigue is as much of a possibility in flight 800's downing.
Heck of alot more plausible than the NTSB's "miracle exploding center wing tank" paper.
i sat behind some TWA pilots on a flight once and they discussed it amoung themselves as a shoot down very matter-of-fact.
