Explosive Device Shatters North End Window Federal Investigators Called To Scene
POSTED: 9:53 am EDT July 23, 2004 UPDATED: 12:23 pm EDT July 23, 2004
BOSTON -- With the Democratic Convention right around the corner, emergency responders got an early test Friday in Boston's North End when a small explosion in the Copps Hill cemetery gave neighbors quite a scare.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the explosion occurred at about 8 a.m. in the graveyard near Snow Hill Street. It shattered a window in the Michael Angelo building, which is housing for the elderly.
"It sounded like a bomb. A real bomb," said Theresa Delelalio, 92.
"We saw the second plane hit, and honestly, when I came out here and I saw the bomb squad and everybody out here, it kind of brought back a bad memory to me. It's quite frightening when something like this happens,"
No one was injured, but Boston Police Department's bomb squad and federal investigators were called to the scene.
"With things going on, the convention and what have you, you have to be concerned. I mean is it going to be like this all week?" neighbor Michael Magner said.
Police said that the explosion was most likely kids throwing firecrackers that could have been stuffed in a bottle.
"People have to understand that since 9-11, the world has changed. This isn't funny. If it was kids putting firecrackers in a bottle for a joke -- it is not a joke," resident Susan Weinstein said.
I think its funny.
Bust the kids ass....smack the crap out of the DSS agent when he/she/it comes out and rants on about child abuse and taking away your bomb making brat...
Everytime I posted that Graphic art or see, I smile or laugh.
Keep my tagline in mind when you see Freepers trying minimize what the Bergelar did and try to blame GW for the sun rising the east or something.
Yes, a graveyard...probably one of those disenfranchised Rat voters we keep hearing about. Turned away from the polls due to death.
I know you'll be interested in this: Women's Wall Street Journal sent me an email reporting that their "quick poll" selected Kerry for President. Tell me it ain't so...?
The lady might have been in NYC on 9/11, but the article doesn't say that.
OK, I think that this line is quoted from a 92 year old woman so cut her some slack. As for the housing for the elderly being located right next to the cemetary, that's a keeper.
Maybe she meant she saw on TV.

I'll wager that 90% of America "saw" the second plane hit. Long distant eye-witnesses, just like I saw Ruby shoot Oswald.
They like to keep their most reliable voters in the same precincts...
Was she delusional? Or is this just stupid reporting?
Poor writing, and an attempt to use a direct quote where an editorial voice would've sounded better, I'd say. This 92-year-old woman probably meant to convey that she remembered when the second plane hit the WTC, and then when this explosion happened today, the reaction to it reminded her of what she remembered seeing on 9/11.
I can see how bottle rockets exploding in a graveyard bring back memories of 747s plowing into skyscrapers. Then again, I'm off my crazy pills.
She whining about this as millions are pouring across our borders illegally, with little effort.....
"The pussification of America continues."
Not really
Yeah, dry run ... a Wake the Vote! Wake the Vote! dry run.
If they want an explosion, somebody should set off a German mag or titanium ground salute.
probably the mental health ward...doubt they were in NYC unless the home had a special trip that day or something...
Right. You've got all the leftists in the country descending on your town and you think it was a prank. Keep telling yourself that, chief.
"Yes, a graveyard...probably one of those disenfranchised Rat voters we keep hearing about. Turned away from the polls due to death."
Then wouldn't this qualify as a "friendly fire" incident?.....:)
