Explosive Device Shatters North End Window Federal Investigators Called To Scene
POSTED: 9:53 am EDT July 23, 2004 UPDATED: 12:23 pm EDT July 23, 2004
BOSTON -- With the Democratic Convention right around the corner, emergency responders got an early test Friday in Boston's North End when a small explosion in the Copps Hill cemetery gave neighbors quite a scare.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the explosion occurred at about 8 a.m. in the graveyard near Snow Hill Street. It shattered a window in the Michael Angelo building, which is housing for the elderly.
"It sounded like a bomb. A real bomb," said Theresa Delelalio, 92.
"We saw the second plane hit, and honestly, when I came out here and I saw the bomb squad and everybody out here, it kind of brought back a bad memory to me. It's quite frightening when something like this happens,"
No one was injured, but Boston Police Department's bomb squad and federal investigators were called to the scene.
"With things going on, the convention and what have you, you have to be concerned. I mean is it going to be like this all week?" neighbor Michael Magner said.
Police said that the explosion was most likely kids throwing firecrackers that could have been stuffed in a bottle.
"People have to understand that since 9-11, the world has changed. This isn't funny. If it was kids putting firecrackers in a bottle for a joke -- it is not a joke," resident Susan Weinstein said.
Move along folks nothing to see here.....

"we saw the second plane hit..."???
And yet Boston remains a head-up-its-a$$ Liberal bastion.
Bush did it.
A graveyard --- Check out Democrat precinct workers.
Negative. Kids throwing firecrackers a coupla weeks after Independence Day is not scary nor is it news. The pussification of America continues.
"we saw the second plane hit..."???
yeah, that was a weird line, this was near an elderly housing building....
Somehow I knew it'd be a current, yet deceased straight-ticket Democrat voter.
Dry run?

Was she delusional? Or is this just stupid reporting?
I trust the new media, no matter from whatever rock they may have crawled out from under.

Is Kerry consulting with France, Germany, the UN, and Sandy "Sock NOC" Berger on the appropriate response to these Boston hulligans?
RIGHT! You got it!
It was the wraskally republicans bombing the graveyards to prevent dead 'Rats from voting!
The nerve of them.

But we seem to have some anarchists testing their tools prior to the conventions. First the pipe bomb in NYC, then this small bomb in Boston.
Typically, pipe bombs are stuffed into mailboxes and trash cans...objects that have been removed from both convention areas (leaving SUV tailpipes, one presumes)...so I'd say that our team is already watching the black block anarchists and ELF, as they should be.
5 Full Legislative Days Left Until The AWB Expires
Either that, or it was a dead anarchist/liberal conducting a 'peaceful' protest against Republican oppression.
or something.
He he he....the reaction guarantees the kids of Boston are going to have quite a bit of fun over the next week......(grin)
Sloppy speaking, being a little TOO colloquial. Person saying that since they saw the second plane hit on 9/11, the explosion today brought back that memory. Expressing that certain sense of shellshock from 9/11.
My biggest worry is that this and the pipe bomb in NYC are scoping out who our first responders are, where they come from, where they return to, and how they react.
