Flight crews and air marshals say Middle Eastern men are staking out airports, probing security measures and conducting test runs aboard airplanes for a terrorist attack. At least two midflight incidents have involved numerous men of Middle Eastern descent behaving in what one pilot called "stereotypical" behavior of an organized attempt to attack a plane.

This is all too true. Especially when our Government is more concerned about poticial correctness than doing whatever is necessary to make ceratin the chances of a 911 repeat are nil.

We need to set an example by immediately removing, arresting and getting rid of ANYONE who plays this game. This is not a time for dallying. The one true reason we have our Government is to protect its citizens. It's about time it does so. Whatever it takes! Do it and do it now!!

They're trying to identify the air marshalls. That way they can avoid the flights that have known air marshalls on them or target any air marshall as the first passenger to be killed during a terrorist attack.

Hopefully, the government has enough foresight to move the air marshals around from plane to plane and from carrier to carrier to make them harder to spot.

I read the article posted here last week that was in the Women's Wall Street Journal and followed the subsequent replies. There was a huge thread on it. Now this article in the Washington Times not only confirms the other article but also mentions additional instances of the terrorists probing our weaknesses. It is interesting to note from this article that the flight crews and air marshalls are very concerned and are trying to get the information to the attention of the public as they realize that current airline security is NOT working. What is it going to take?

Sorry but I'm not buying your argument. Guns on planes? One shot through a window and that plane is gone. And, what's to stop some terrorist from bringing a gun on board?

Made the cockpits stronger, train these guys on how to use a gun, put Marshals on the planes, have airlines start paying for their own armed security and passengers should keep their seatbelts fastened cuz when the trouble starts, that pilot is going to drop altitude real fast and plaster anyone standing to the ceiling....

Sounds like a diversion to me: get Homeland Security excessively focused on airline security while they slip the nuclear bombs into place through lightly guarded seaports.

The next attack will likely be very different from 9/11, something unexpected (though obvious in retrospect).

Actually the along with the media refuse to acknowledge it for the most part. Snopes.com has the Jacobson story as false. Despite the fact that others have similar stories (such as the mirror to the cockpit). Don't want to scare us (we might stop flying or spending money), who cares if we might become vigilant (oh, year perhaps that is bad now too :-)

One shot through a window and that plane is gone? That's a myth. You should watch "Mythbusters" on the Discovery Channel. They pressurized a cockpit and fired a bullet through the side of it. It just made a little hole and that was all. Same thing for the window.

Also read the follow-up posts and all the comments. A friend of mine is an airline pilot and a 757 instructor. He said he could poke some serious holes in the Flight 327 story, although he didn't say what they were. I was skeptical about the flight attendant discussing the air marshals with a passenger.

If that was the case, then how do you explain all the bombers from WW2 that seemed to be turned into smth close to swiss cheese and STILL made it home safe ?

I recall an incident that happened some years ago near Hawaii.
Seems like the whole danged cabin roof came off a plane.
Passengers were sitting in their seats with the sky as their roof, but the plane made it back and safely landed.
