BAGHDAD, July 21 (UPI) -- Iraqi security reportedly discovered three missiles carrying nuclear heads concealed in a concrete trench northwest of Baghdad, official sources said Wednesday. The official daily al-Sabah quoted the sources as saying the missiles were discovered in trenches near the city of Tikrit, the hometown of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "The three missiles were discovered by chance when the Iraqi security forces captured former Baath party official Khoder al-Douri who revealed during interrogation the location of the missiles saying they carried nuclear heads," the sources said. They pointed out that the missiles were actually discovered in the trenches lying under six meters of concrete and designed in a way to unable sophisticated sensors from discovering nuclear radiation. The sources said al-Douri, who is related to former Vice Chairman of the Iraq Revolution Council and Saddam's right-hand man Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, was captured after Iraqi police intercepted an e-mail message in which he set a meeting with another former Baath official. The report could not be authenticated by the interior ministry or the national security department, but the paper noted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zibari made a surprise request recently to Mohammed el-Baradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to resume inspections for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
It was all the buzz last night on FR as it was reported that an Iraqi paper had published the reports.
This is the first mainstream article to appear.
How long before some demonRAT shill comes out with a line that says something like ''It's only 3 missiles"?
It is just a rumor started by Bush.
Impossible. Hans Blix assured us there were NO WMDs in Iraq. There were also no people, buildings, or dirt as far as he could tell. He'd bet the life of his seeing-eye dog on it.
BTTT and ping Arrowhead -- mainstream media picked it up!
Eh? It's just a reporst of the uPI article, and if I am not mistaken, the Moonies own both the Times and UPI.
UPI is sourcing the same Iraqi paper but this means they'll be on what would be the story of the year.
Bwahahaaahaa
As another freeper noted last night, three is not enough to make a stockpile, you need five in order to stack them up and make a stockpile, LOL!
a cautious fyi
I agree. How many times has something been found only to have the story buried. ALTHOUGH, the request to bring back the inspectors may give this one legs????
Holy f*cking shit!
bttt
Hmmmmm. Any info on this story yet?
BTTT
What happen to the story yesterday that 30+ sarin artillery shells were found?
I was just putting those pieces together myself. I also believe we've found a lot more in Iraq that we just don't know about yet.
Guess we need to stay calm. If it's false, it's false. If it's true, and Iraq had nuclear weapons, actual atom bombs, not just dirty bombs, and had them in Saddam's home town of Tikrit, it is obviously the story of the year and pretty much ends the presidential race.
