July 21, 2004 -- WASHINGTON Rudy Giuliani is getting a starring role during next week's Democratic convention as the lead Republican rebutting John Kerry on the day of his big speech to the nation, sources say. Republican strategists said the former mayor will be in Boston to speak to reporters on the morning of July 29, just hours before Kerry's address accepting the Democratic nomination for president the speech seen as the convention's key moment.

How will Giuliani be "rebutting" Kerry if he will be speaking to the press a few hours "before" Kerry's speech?
Are you telling me you can't predict virtually everything Kerry, one of the least imaginative politicians on the national stage in decades, will say?
Fair enough. Do you think there's any chance, for example, that Kerry might be persuaded by his advisors to let people know that he served in Vietnam?
Of course not. First, he's far too modest to boast about such things. Second, like all Democrats he looks to the future, not the past.
Former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik? I like the idea of him being included. Kerik, who was my son's former boss when he headed the NYPD, is a tough talking, no-nonsense type who takes no shit from anyone. Kerik had a look when he was unhappy that could always send shivers down the spine of the toughest cop so I would advise the media to avoid pissing him off.
Of course. He hasn't said anything yet that makes sense. Should we expect something different. This "I'll write my own speech" bit is a leftover from his college days when he was on the debating team. Would sure like to read some of those texts. I'll betcha they have a flip-flop flair also.
My thoughts are that maybe Rudy will hit a nerve and cause Kerry to try to ad lib and really put his foot in it.....
Might be sweet to see Frenchy self-destruct at this convention...
"Prebutting"?
A prebuttal?
LOL
Pre-kicking his butting?
Power to the people!!!
"How will Giuliani be "rebutting" Kerry if he will be speaking to the press a few hours "before" Kerry's speech?"
Maybe our "Sandy Berger" will obtain a draft (in his shorts) the night before........
Rudy's the one to do it!
.......but I thought that the timing of the Sandy Burgler revelation was supposed to be taking the attention off of the convention?
You must be kidding!! Is it really true that Kerry served in RVN? He must be some sort of HERO....
But how can Giuliani rebut Kerry?? Where is his moral authority? Giuliani didn't serve his country.
Didn't you know Kerry served AND fought in Viet Nam? In fact he was decorated too.
Ahhh...it feels good to leave another gift at the altar of sarcasm.
Rudy is a class act. He's far more to the left than I am, but I would not be disappointed if he replaced Cheney on the Republican ticket.
In a perfect world, Cheney would stay on the ticket, but I really suspect that he is a liability now.
By the North Vietnamese, but he was decorated nonetheless.
