Joe Lockhart claims ex-aide didn't hide secret docs in his hose
Former colleagues of Clinton National Security Adviser Sandy Berger challenged allegations that the ex-aide stuffed classified documents in his socks to remove them from a secure reading room prior to his 9-11 Commission testimony.
Federal officials have launched a criminal investigation into the former aide, who now advises Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, for pocketing highly classified terrorism documents.
Though Fox News is reporting Berger and his lawyer said last night he knowingly removed handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket, pants and socks, CNN reports law-enforcement sources say some of the actual secret documents he reviewed were stuffed in his socks before leaving the room.
Joe Lockhart, Clinton's former spokesman, says Berger "categorically denies that he ever took documents and stuffed them in his socks," according to CNN.
"That is absurd," said Lockhart, who is now advising Berger. "And anyone who says that is interested in something other than the truth."
Former Clinton aide Lanny Davis wants the official who leveled the sock-stuffing allegation to come forward and make the claim publicly.
"I suggest that person is lying," the news channel quotes him as saying. "And if that person has the guts, let's see who it is who made the comment that Sandy Berger stuffed something into his socks."
Davis called Berger "a person of impeccable honesty and integrity."
"He spent nights and 24-hour time periods before the millennium doing, I think, a critical job in thwarting a terrorist attack between 1999 and 2000, New Year's Eve," Davis told CNN's "American Morning."
"What we're told ... [is] he took copies of those memos inadvertently in his own notes. There's absolutely no basis for suggesting there is any national security issues here or harm done here."
Berger has said he regrets the "sloppiness" involved in his actions.
Okay, that settles it. Now I believe Sandy Berger because Joe Lockhart says I should. /SARCASM!!!
This reminds me of an old joke:
Stosh and his American cousin Joe were on the beach ogling all the girls. Stosh asked Joe how he could make himself more attractive to the girls so they'd talk to him. Joe told Stosh: "Next time we come to the beach, stuff a potato inside your trunks. The girls will love it!"
So, the next time Stosh goes to the beach, he puts a potato in his swim trunks. But everytime he tries to talk to a girl, she makes a face and turns away. When he finds his cousin Joe on the beach, Stosh asks him: "Joe, I did what you told me to do. I put a potato in my swim trunks, but I can't get any girls to talk to me." Joe looks Stosh over and says: "Stosh, next time, try putting the potato in front!"
As someone suggsted on another thread, perhaps he put the footnotes in his socks. (Sorry, I just couldn't help it.)
The question is not whether Berger stuffed his socks with papers but whether he stuffs his underwear with his socks.
"Berger has said he regrets the "sloppiness" involved in his actions."
Is that a public apology to the Clintons for botching up the job; fear of being Fosterized?
Klintoon translation:" Berger stole documents and stuffed them into his pants"...
See how it works?
I believe Lockhart --- Berger didn't stuff documents in his socks --- it would be too hard with most socks to put any kind of documents into them and think they wouldn't fall out and you'd be caught. He also didn't stuff them down his trousers because there would be nothing stopping the documents from sliding down and falling out the pant-leg opening. He stuffed them down his underpants so he could walk out knowing they'd stay in place.
Dems must defeat the allegation of "concealing" the documents in clothes etc. The act of concealing demonstrates "fore-knowledge of the evidence of wrongdoing."

It's interesting that the most frequently-seen defenders of Clinton during the impeachment period, Lanny Davis and Peter Fenn, have suddenly re-appeard now.
I think with dems this is just another "depends on what you mean by 'is'" --- just a word game their playing to confuse those stupid enough to vote for them. He would have to have had pretty big socks to hold any kind of documents --- he never stuffed the documents into socks to steal them --- but they're not saying he didn't steal them or remove them illegally.
They are lawyers after all...
Joe Lockhart is a well paid political motivator for the Dem's.
What the he!! is he thinking when making such a statement?
No doubt. That alone should set off bells with the public.
The flying monkeys are in the air again...
'Did Lanny say that with a straight face?' Lanny never says anything with a straight face. He always has that silly grin as if everything in politics, no matter how serious, is just "fun and games".
So is he copping to the pants and jacket, but not the socks?
It sure sounds like it but, as you know, when it's the clinton clan you never take anything at face value.
