ABC News- 'Noted Now' Latest Political Breaking News ^ | 7/20/04

Posted on 07/20/2004 1:11:47 PM PDT by gopwinsin04

SEN. SAXBY CHAMBLISS: 'Reportedly these documents are related to homeland security and then suddenly we see the Kerry campaign came forward with what may have been illegal documents. This is sensitive stuff and was a significant breach of security...Kerry knows better than to use these documents,' Chambliss says in a press conference.

SEN. GORDON SMITH: 'There is a curious connection between the removal of these documents and the Kerry press conference on port security..It's disappointing what people might do as they try and take the President down.

I didn't forget your qualifier. I'm pointing out that it isn't saying that a document is classified that is the classified information. It's the information in the document itself.

No, I don't follow the logic of your point and I certainly do not think this reflects poorly on the Republicans.

Has everyone heard that Berger stepped down as Kerry advisor?

I don't see a thread about it.

Maybe I missed it.

Shorthand version:

The Senators were saying Kerry benefitted from the memo theft.
Today, Kerry deleted from their website the press release that was the 'benefit' of the theft (allegedly).
That purged press release is in 101, to save it from the memory hole.

I think that Clinton lawyer was the custodian of the administration documents though ... makes sense that he should be called ...

I think that was part of his job to protect the documents so nothing "privy" is released to the different commissions doing investigations.

I should clarify and say that Fox alluded to the use by the
Kerry camp an hour ago. Story is developing as we speak.
Kerry responds?

"Who? Moi? Seriously, do I look like I would use stolen top-secret material?

'There is a curious connection between the removal of these documents and the Kerry press conference on port security..."

Hmmmmmmm....this is starting to make sense. Sandy steals the docs; Justice knows all about it but keeps quiet (and keeps tabs on Sandy); Querry makes public utterances that reveal knowledge of the stolen documents; Justice then begins their public investigation of Sandy while all-comers take care of Lurch.

Am I completely off base here?

No you are not off base.

I will post a link to a thread posted here in March where a couple of republicans set a bear trap for Clarke and his testimony at the 9/11 hearings. Clarke is in really deep trouble here with potential perjury charges.

The big question will be;

Is Sandy Berger going to be another Web Hubble? ..or will Sandy be going into the Witness Protection Program?

P.S. Sandy, take Rush's advise and avoid Fort Marcy!

I have worked in the archives and it is a pain in the neck to have to sit there without coffee and take notes.

Boofrigginhoo! Rules are rules. Security measures are developed for a reason. Sandy berger has to follow them. He should lose his security clearance for this at a minimum.

I'm not sure what the connection being made by the 2 Senate Republicans are . . . but . . .

It seems odd to suggest that stuffing notes in your clothes (including socks) and taking documents out of the area on several occassions AND "inadvertently" destroying them is the work of an obese slop who just couldn't get comfortable in the review area.

Odd. And disingenous.

I'm a lawyer. When we do mergers, etc., document review rooms are created and no one LEAVES with the documents. It's a no-no. Comfort isn't an issue. It isn't when national security is at issue either.

No facts, just innuendo? Well, while that works well for the Dems and a complicit media, it doesn't for the Republicans. As was proven by Marion Barry, even video doesn't seem to effect many Democratic followers.

Oops. Isn't that what David Gergen said would hurt Kerry? (Not that I have any respect for him, just that's what he said this morning in his spinorama)
