Sorry, but this is a good ruling. Here in Boston, the MBTA cops have already announced that they'd random-search passengers' backpacks and briefcases on commuter rail trains, and as a commuter rail passenger, I'd be G-damned if I'd let one of these hacks search me. After all, it's about a little something called the Fourth Amendment . . .

This judge needs to be overruled ASAP!!

The judge needs to be impeached and removed from office ASAP. The judge needs to be investigated for ties to terrorist organizations.

But they can close 40 miles of roadway around the Rat convention in Boston?

What is wrong with this judge?

. . . prohibits blanket searches of bulky bags and backpacks in the absence of a "specific threat."

Talk about an utterly useless ruling.

The NYPD will simply claim that they've received a specific threat about protesters at the GOP convention, and everyone will be subject to a thorough search.

Does anyone here think a dottering old fool of a Federal judge is going to complain about such a turn of events?

To bad this planted pipe bomb didn't go off in this judges personal drug use room.

TIMES SQ. SUBWAY BLAST HURTS COP
The New York Post ^ | 07/20/2004 | The New York Post

Posted on 07/19/2004 11:58:28 PM PDT by GAGOPSWEEPTOVICTORY

A small pipe bomb packed with gunpowder and BBs exploded in a subway station last night, injuring a transit cop and throwing several blocks near Times Square into chaos.

A police spokesman insisted that authorities do not believe that the incident was terrorism — but federal officials, including the Secret Service and the Joint Terrorism Task Force are investigating, it was learned.

The officer, whose name was withheld, was standing near a staircase leading to the A, C and E trains at 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue at around 8 p.m., when he saw a burning knapsack, police said.

He quickly pushed two commuters to safety, but as he was calling for assistance, the bag exploded, cops said.

This may have been a dry run by the Kerrorists, whose judge has enabled them to have an open pathway to cause severe problems before and during the convention.

Old Carter appointed judges never retire, they just stay on and make life miserable for other Americans.

And air marshals can't do anything until after something goes boom.

The prohibition on penning is far more important than the bag search prohibition IMHO. The NYPD has been using penning very successfully from the WTO protests and the New Year's Eve celebrations for years. It is the only thing that works to prevent crowds from turning into mobs.

Maybe this judge thinks that uncontrollable mobs are an essential feature of free expression. If the police can't use penning, they are going to have to use horses, mace, batons and tear gas, and things are going to get ugly.

Maybe that is what the judge is going for...

On another thread about this topic I questioned the judge's political affilation (before it had been revealed). Another FReeper opined that he was adhering to the fourth amendment to the Constitution.

The word "unreasonable" is the sticky point. After reading the plans for disruption posted on the left wing websites, you can tell me that it is unreasonable to search their bags? I don't think so!

It's obvious the Demonrats and their cronies would love for the GOP convention to be attacked to eliminate their competition. This judge is obviously hoping for some of that with this insane ruling. Insane because you can bet that the Demonrats are going to have all protective measures, searches and streets closed down for their protection from protest-we know terrorists wouldn't actually have an attack on their great allies. Things are going to get ugly in NY. That's fine because it only shows what freaks and thugs are the core of the Demonrat party. Bring it on! Florida should've been chosen as the convention site, but the RNC was foolish to put it in a state and city full of fools.

They can do this at a ballgame but not at the Republican Convention?? Something's rotten in New Amsterdam.

Given that MoveOn and ANSWER have planned to divert police resources with false alarms...

I am willing to attest to the judge's overt act in open court, per Article III, Section 3 of the US Constitution.

Uninvited , pro or con should not get closer than the perimeter of the property to either convention for security reasons IMO. Barriers and badges and lots of crash fire trucks with water cannon filled with dye to mark the "peaceful protestors" who break and bum rush a secure venue for later arrest. Stomp and drag has it's place when sedition and inciting to riot replaces free speech and right to assemble in peacerful protest.

BTW........ Does Spiderman have a web page?

Stay safe !

Well it's pretty obvious now that the Democratic party is alligned with the forces of anti-american jihadism. I bet they took money from the terrorists, probably some turban-wearing guy named Akbar, to use to buy off the judge so that they can get their braindead hippie minions to smuggle bombs into the RNC and blow up the entire Republican party! The Democrats are in it with the Muslims and they won't stop until the whole world is bowing down before a green flag with a donkey on it and some chicken-scratches refering to the greatness of Allah and his activist judges. They must be stopped!!

The entire judiciary should be vacated, and we should move to a system of bona fide Republican tribunals. Book 'em and cook 'em!
