A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_bear, dutchess, Aquamarine,

Hey..Giz here...Today's a re-run day. Had a great thread lined up for today....but FredtheCat and I got carried away with all the ice cream from Billie's thread and took a too long nap. Plus....never saw I re-run we didn't like. ENJOY!

How Many Dogs Does It Take to Change A Light Bulb?

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

Rottweiler: Make me.

Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please!

German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.

Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb?

Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

Chihuahua: Yo quiero Taco Bulb.

Pointer: I see it, there it is, there it is, right there ..

Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?

Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle ...

Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

The Cat Answer???...... Dogs do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So,the real question is: How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?????

"Colleen - the Dead are back and on tour! Just saw it on 60 minutes."

Thank You, Dixie :-) The Dead are scheduled to be in my neck of the woods when I am on vacation. I will be traveling to South Carolina when they play here. Would like to see them one of these days, heard they were good. But still, no Jerry....last show I went to was in June '95

"What a sweet kitty she was, my Lady! :)">

Ah, yes, she was. Jenn and Larry got her for $5 at a pet store right after they married, and taught her to fetch wadded up paper they'd toss into a barrel, leaping in and bringing it back to their hand.

Larry used to drape her around his neck when he drove, and she LOVED going for drives in the car!

That came in handy when we moved a couple of times.
I had my husband build a board extension that I padded with a carpet remnant, resting over the drop down arm between the two front seats. (had 2 legs that rested on the seat to brace it, extending beyond the seat itself.)
She would stay put there, able to stretch out full length.
She was quite serene beside me traveling from Liberty, North Carolina to here in South Carolina.

When we took in Binky, my niece highly allergic to him, Snuggles sighed and tolerated him - and trained him how to care for us humans.

I cannot tell you how often one or the other of all my cats has 'sensed' I was in trouble, and helped!
Several times I was awakened by one of them literally sitting on my chest in the dark of night - to let me know I was having an insulin reaction during sleep....lifesavers in every sense of the word.

I may take a day trip to Charleston/Folly Beach to visit my Aunts, Uncle and cousins, unless they come up to Myrtle Beach. If I am in your area, Dixie, it would be great to see you. Or ya could spend a day by the beach with the clan, we welcome all :-)

Dutchess, even though I really did like this presentation the first time I must chastise you for not finding an extra 5 minutes in the day to create a new one.

Maybe 10 minutes if it's really extravagant. :-)

I am sure Weinie and Sheldon are having fun in rainbow heaven.

We're having a party! Every day! But no hotdogs!

Wow, that's amazing that she loved riding in cars! Most cats would go crazy!

...lifesavers in every sense of the word.

Our pets are wonderful companions from a Kind and Loving God. Years ago, I had a dog who was clearly trying to comfort me when a kitty I used to have got ran over by a car. I'm thankful for the pets our Lord has given me through the years.

If a cat is secure in your love and handled gently and kindly at all times, and you talk to them a lot, they can be remarkably attuned to you.

Another stray-kitten-who-came-to-stay (after he in desperation licked the grease off the grill), was exceptionally sweet and loving. I later became ill and had no aspirin to bring down the high fever, living far from a store.

My daughter was working second shift and going to bring some, so I moved to the living room couch to wait. 'Boyo' was across the living room lying on top of the console television set.

As I was in a cycle of extremely high fever alternating with drenching sweating followed chills, he deliberately jumped down and came over to me - hopped up and carefully sprawled out on top of me to warm me up with his body!!

Kitty angels abound - -

It turned out to be a very serious kidney infection, requiring 5 days of hospitalization.

Boyo was a good kitty! I've had several cats and dogs I've loved a lot. I still miss my doggie, Spot, that I had when I was 9 years old. (34 years ago!) When my family and I had to move, they determined that they could afford to keep only one of our dogs, so they put him in the car, and left my Spot in the care of a neighbor. I can still see him, sitting in the middle of the country road, watching until we were out of sight. A few days later, I was told that he just disappeared; I'm pretty sure he tried to follow me, when I never came back. I loved that doggie, and hope the Lord will let me have him back someday!
