Did you know......?

If you were born in July, your birthstone would be the Ruby. Ruby comes from the Latin word rubber meaning “more red”. Rubies comes in a many shades of red, it depends on the chromium and iron content of the stone. It is the second hardest mineral known to exist, diamond is the first.

Legends & Lore:

Ruby is known as the love stone; it is given to open the heart, reconcile lover’s quarrels, express passion and promise love. It is believed to stop hemorrhaging and inflammatory disorders. Ruby is the gemstone for Wisconsin.

If worn on the left hand or as a brooch on the left side the wearer would live peacefully with his enemies.

An ancient verse:

"The gleaming ruby should adorn,
All those who in July are born.
For thus they’ll be exempt and free,
From lover’s doubts and anxiety".

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flower for July
Larkspur is the common name for flowering plants in the buttercup family. Colors range from a pale pink to deep purple. There is a white variety as well. Larkspur can attain heights up to 7 feet. In the past, the name larkspur has been used interchangeably with the name delphinium; however, they are now considered to be separate genus's; the larkspur is annual while the delphinium is perennial.
The name larkspur comes the belief that the flowers looks like a lark's foot: larkspur, lark's heel and lark's claw have all been used.
The color for July is pink and means open heart, pink in particular means fickleness and talkativeness.
But enough about jewels ... can't eat them! And flowers, though some are edible, simply cannot compare to ICE CREAM!, and I think I hear the distant sound of the ice cream truck....
Double Dip Chocolate Please!
One must never tempt a slender person to eat ice cream.., rich, delicious, yummy, creamy sweet chocolate ice cream.
Those of us who struggle to reach the svelte proportions of the Thin Man, however, may be constantly tempted by this irresistable treat.
One may also be tempted by hot fudge sundaes, topped by whipped cream, covered in nuts...but I would never tempt a Thin Man.
Some think heaven is a pint of praline pecan ice cream, others adore strawberry or fresh peach...all creamy and delightful...
I am certain, though, they hold no power over a Thin Man's power to resist...Someone must have tricked him into eating the chocolate ice cream...;)
"It's so sad, Lady. Billie's now forcing defenseless mice to eat her homemade ice cream since no one else would dare to. :-)"
Well, T Man, she did have one innocent little person
fooled into eating some of it,
and even took this picture of him
to 'prove' it was edible...:
Poor little guy - - -
Uh...Meg - would ya do a favor for me and put these in your freezer so I won't be tempted to give them to T Man?
The pressure on him might be unbearable, and he might weaken and eat more than a teaspoonful a week.
They are in isothermal containers, so will withstand the cyber travel to Texas, I do believe - -
You're so right, Meg. I have no desire for ice cream with all the various toppings. My willpower is much too strong.
especially, since I just finished a quarter-pounder with cheese and supersized fries.
That's just terrible. How can Billie be so cruel as to give a little boy ice cream. How he must've suffered!
Permission requested to issue an invitation to these two persons
to our Finest Ice Cream Social, Miss Billie:
LadyX proposes I whip up My Spectacular Sundaes for them:
You will not have to dispatch Lars to bring them;
The Man has real pull, and just *might*
chopper over for the occasion.
There is nothing better than homemade peach ice cream made in the old fashioned ice cream maker.
My arms hurt thinking about it and my tongue quivers with remembered anticipation of that first spoonful, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh...
