Did you know......?
If you were born in July, your birthstone would be the Ruby. Ruby comes from the Latin word rubber meaning more red. Rubies comes in a many shades of red, it depends on the chromium and iron content of the stone. It is the second hardest mineral known to exist, diamond is the first.
Legends & Lore:
Ruby is known as the love stone; it is given to open the heart, reconcile lovers quarrels, express passion and promise love. It is believed to stop hemorrhaging and inflammatory disorders. Ruby is the gemstone for Wisconsin.
If worn on the left hand or as a brooch on the left side the wearer would live peacefully with his enemies.
An ancient verse:
"The gleaming ruby should adorn, All those who in July are born. For thus theyll be exempt and free, From lovers doubts and anxiety".

Flower for July
Larkspur is the common name for flowering plants in the buttercup family. Colors range from a pale pink to deep purple. There is a white variety as well. Larkspur can attain heights up to 7 feet. In the past, the name larkspur has been used interchangeably with the name delphinium; however, they are now considered to be separate genus's; the larkspur is annual while the delphinium is perennial.
The name larkspur comes the belief that the flowers looks like a lark's foot: larkspur, lark's heel and lark's claw have all been used.
The color for July is pink and means open heart, pink in particular means fickleness and talkativeness.

But enough about jewels ... can't eat them! And flowers, though some are edible, simply cannot compare to ICE CREAM!, and I think I hear the distant sound of the ice cream truck....

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Oh, gosh! This ice cream recipe sounds delicious! Thank you for posting it. Copying and saving it right now! Really love the fruity ice cream - Baskin Robbins used to have one called "Baseball Nuts" in the summer (haven't checked in a while - it may be there now!), and it was soooooo good - fruity AND nutty!

Tim was pigging out on the ice cream. I told him to slow down or he'll have a heart attack. It's not low in fat, but it was heavenly...my favorite so far. It tasted like cheese cake with the blueberries on it.
We got an ice cream maker as a wedding gift 10 years ago, so I've been collecting ice cream recipes all these years. I have a bunch of good ones. If I have time, I'll post Allyson's favorite....a lemon recipe.
Oh, and Aqua, the new Marine to be is my baby brother, born in 1985 when I was a senior in High School. My how time flies. I can't believe it.

Nice post on ice cream today Billie...but it's probably going to cost me some calories. :)
We made some homemade vanilla ice cream on the 4th and it was so good.
Wish I could find my animated ice cream gif.

How did you know that ice cream was my most favorite thing - especially on a hot summer day? Yum! Me, too. I LOVE ice cream! Hot summer day or not! My sister-in-law makes "grape" ice cream (not sherbert - ice cream!) - it's really refreshing!

Can see the truck on the thread now. It's an old one, so it breaks down occasionally. ;o)
