Did you know......?
If you were born in July, your birthstone would be the Ruby. Ruby comes from the Latin word rubber meaning more red. Rubies comes in a many shades of red, it depends on the chromium and iron content of the stone. It is the second hardest mineral known to exist, diamond is the first.
Legends & Lore:
Ruby is known as the love stone; it is given to open the heart, reconcile lovers quarrels, express passion and promise love. It is believed to stop hemorrhaging and inflammatory disorders. Ruby is the gemstone for Wisconsin.
If worn on the left hand or as a brooch on the left side the wearer would live peacefully with his enemies.
An ancient verse:
"The gleaming ruby should adorn, All those who in July are born. For thus theyll be exempt and free, From lovers doubts and anxiety".

Flower for July
Larkspur is the common name for flowering plants in the buttercup family. Colors range from a pale pink to deep purple. There is a white variety as well. Larkspur can attain heights up to 7 feet. In the past, the name larkspur has been used interchangeably with the name delphinium; however, they are now considered to be separate genus's; the larkspur is annual while the delphinium is perennial.
The name larkspur comes the belief that the flowers looks like a lark's foot: larkspur, lark's heel and lark's claw have all been used.
The color for July is pink and means open heart, pink in particular means fickleness and talkativeness.

But enough about jewels ... can't eat them! And flowers, though some are edible, simply cannot compare to ICE CREAM!, and I think I hear the distant sound of the ice cream truck....

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

You know I'm not fond of chocolate either, but the mint overpowers the chocolate. But Bryers vanilla is good and not too sweet. I don't like the sticky sweet either. As for fruit, I'm beginning to get the same results that you have from fruit. Must be genetic eh?

Oh, sweet Nan, I'm sorry! For some reason, my brain still mostly associates you with the Dose of Dubya, from my LONG lurkin' days!
I love you, my dear sister in the Lord!

I actually don't like Breyers, any flavor.
Seems 'gritty' rather than smooth and creamy to me.
I remember when I was 9 and we had a cow named Bessie -
no ice cream flavor today is as good as that fresh cream homemade kind....
(even if Mama always let you lick the paddle and spoon)

Kitty, you said you associate me with the Daily Dose thread, but I rarely post there. I just happened to be there the night you posted for the first time. Divine plan I guess. This is the only daily thread I have time to post on and that pretty rarely these days. I skim through the titles and check out what's happening, and that's about all I have time for. Once in a great while Sistah and I will have sparing time here late at night. Dave has been known to referee.
