Ron Reagan says Kerry's first act would be EO to reverse Bush stem cell policy
Hardball | July 12, 2004

Posted on 07/12/2004 4:10:27 PM PDT by Howlin

He just announced this on Hardball; he said that Kerry told him this personally on the phone while they were discussing Reagan's appearance at the Democratic Convention that his first act in office if he's elected will be to sign an executive order to reverse Bush's stem cell policy.

The GOP should counter by letting Michael Reagan speak at the convention

Agreed. But guess which Reagan will get the press coverage?

“Embryonic stem cells are not going to be the source of a cure for Alzheimer’s,” Dobson told the capacity crowd. “Are you aware that not one human being anywhere in the world is being treated with embryonic stem cells? There is not a single clinical trial going on anywhere in the world, because (embryonic) stem cells in laboratory animals … create tumors. Nobody will use them.”

Ron Reagan is a weasally little p---k who disliked his Dad and doesn't wait until he is cold in the grave before sucking up to Kerry and the stinking liberals using the 'stem cell' bit as an excuse---President Reagan would not have spit on a POS like Kerry or Edwards but the boy thinks he can now speak for his father---BS---suckass---weeny boy

A young lady that cannot walk because of an accident has been given her own stem cells and has shown some improvement. Some of you may have seen her on Oprah last month.

The field of embryonic stem cell research received a blow when a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Thursday reported that a human experiment attempting to cure Parkinson's disease has failed.

In the experiment, holes were drilled in patients' skulls and cells from aborted fetuses were implanted in their brains.

The implanted stem cells did survive and grow into the right kind of brain cells, but in some of the patients, the cells produced too much of the nerve transmitter dopamine, causing severe involuntary jerking and twitching.

Researchers who performed the study called the results devastating.

I can find no direct quote or video of Nancy ever using the word 'embryonic' or 'embryo' in relation to stem cell research, although a bunch of liberal reporters (mainly CBS) 'claims' she spoke out is in favor of that. I would bet they are twisting her words or reading between her lines.

I'm sure Nancy and others are aware of the fantastic progress in some diseases that's been achieved using ADULT stem cells, so there is no need to use abortions for research.

One of the better examples is the teenager in Royal Oak(that's Detroit) whose heart had mostly died, and he needed a transplant. But instead, doctors harvested his own bone marrow, extracted his own stem cells, duplicated them in a lab, and deposited them back into the dead areas of his heart tissue.

He re-grew a new heart.

There are also a great wealth of placenta stem cells.

...the remainder is from:
www.cwfa.org/images/content/adultstemcells03.pdf
After undergoing adult pancreatic-cell transplants, 11 out of 15 Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes patients are no longer taking insulin. 33

Heart specialist Bodo Eckehard Strauer successfully treated a patient with stem cells from the man’s bone marrow.34

Doctors at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, report that Dimitri Bonnville shows improvement after undergoing an experimental stem-cell transplant [his OWN cells] to help regain heart tissue lost in a massive heart attack.35

AMAZING ADVANCES While ESCR consistently turns up dead ends and sometimes-deadly results, adult stem cells continue to amaze researchers with their powers. In fact, the only real medical advances from stem cells have come with adult stem-cell treatments. Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Michael Fumento asserts the advantage of adult stem cells. He says, “Embryonic stem cell research is so far behind it’s like a joke. … We’re getting everything we need out of nonembryonic stem cells, and what we’re getting is incredible.

Christopher Reeve will walk again because of adult-stem cell research.”25 Recent scientific developments prove this statement true. A few include:

Italian scientists generated muscle tissue using adult rat brain cells. Scientists hope to use this discovery to improve organ transplant therapy.

University of South Florida researchers injected brain cells, developed from human stem cells found in umbilical-cord blood, into rats “genetically engineered to have strokes.” They report that the stem cells “integrated seamlessly into the surrounding brain tissue, maturing into the type of cell appropriate for that area of the brain.” This finding shows the versatility of cord-blood stem cells and could improve the treatment of neurological diseases.26 19 April 2002.

Paraphrasing Charles Krauthammer tonight on Brit Hume show: Ron Reagan, Jr.'s sole identity has been his name, and he's trashing the memory of who gave it to him by speaking at the dem convention.

This atheist twit has no credentials beyond his name, ballet training, and his MC-ing dog shows. He would be pitiful if he weren't so disgusting.

"Reagan's appearance at the Democratic Convention"

This will really add to his dog-and-phoney-show resume.

You are exactly right. Not one researcher has been able to keep a fetal sample over two weeks.

What "Ron The Lesser" doesn't realize is that Kerry would revoke the EO before he issued it. LOL! What a bunch of insipid losers!

Why are these people so obsessed with (embryonic) stem cells? 36 posted on 07/12/2004 4:22:10 PM PDT by livius

They seem to be diabolically obsessed with going down another slippery slope of slaughtering the unborn. It's bizarre. This is Frankenstein stuff out of a campy B SciFi/horror movie.

Outstanding KCVL.

How would you innoculate the listening public from reagan jr's words BEFORE they hear them...using the info in your post?

The media simply won't tell the truth.

Why is no great pharaceutical/bio-tech firm jumping all over this "stem cell" stuff with BOTH FEET if it SO EASILY PROMISING and so POTENTIALLY LUCRATIVE??!!

I just wonder how Ron and Patti ended up so liberal, with a dad like the Gipper. Mike is conservative, as was Maureen (God rest her soul). Perhaps Nancy had liberal genes and Jane Wyman didn't??? Of course Mike was adopted so there goes that theory.

From what I've read, mostly on FR, Michael didn't get along with his mother possibly on the political views and had to transfer to his father's home. I strongly suspect that all of the Reagan women, rather like all of the Bush women, are more liberal than their husbands. Opposites attract, or so I'm told.

In other words .. Kerry is saying: LET's USE THE PUBLIC's MONEY - NOT MINE!!

No thanks, Lurch!!

When do these people get it ..?? The stem cell issue is only WHOSE MONEY IS GOING TO BE USED. The President said the public's money is not going to be spent for stem cell research. THAT's ALL! There is nothing stopping the dems from FUNDING THE RESEARCH!!

They are trying to make the public believe that the President STOPPED the research .. he didn't .. Bush only stopped the funding from PUBLIC FUNDS.

This is delicious. Will sKerry own up to it? Will sKerry back away from the statement? What do you think? I believe the phone call took place and Ronny was shrewd enough to get something from sKerry in return for a convention talk, but sKerry didn't think it would go public. Well, well, well.

BTW, I think Ronny is trying to parlay his father's death into a lucrative/political career.
