I just heard this. I liked her. Great smile, great voice. Rest in peace, Wheezie.

Hopefully she's "movin' on up".

A shame. She was a great foil for George and the times I saw her interviewed in "real life" she seemed pretty cool.

The Jefferson's - black folks who worked hard and prospered.
What great role models.

She appears in come commercials not long ago. Her aging was apparent (since she had been off TV for a long time), but I didn't realize she was 87 (per FoxNews).

(After 20 years in the Senate, all Kerry has to run on is 4 months of service in Viet Nam.)

There was a huge age difference between Sanford and Hemsley. I never noticed it watching the show as a kid but I believe she was 15 years older.
What a great comic actress with an unforgettable voice.
