Backup electrical systems failed to kick in

A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained – six days later.

Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

Spain Judge: 1,000 in Morocco Pose Threat

MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Europe's biggest terrorist threat is Morocco - seething with as many as 1,000 al-Qaida adherents capable of suicide attacks and skilled at slipping through the continent's southern gateway, Spain's leading anti-terrorism judge testified Thursday.

The impoverished kingdom just a short ferry ride across the Strait of Gibraltar has about 100 al-Qaida-linked cells that raise money by dealing hashish, fencing luxury cars and smuggling people into Spain, Judge Baltasar Garzon told lawmakers investigating the Madrid train bombings. Most of the 17 suspects jailed in the March 11 bombings, which killed 190 people, are Moroccan.

Don't get me wrong, there is a part of me that swells with pride at the idea of being able to protect one of our most sacred rights. I just happen to be all too painfully aware of the realities of displaying a firearm in public these days. I was raised with firearms, and it didn't even hit me how much fear most people have of them until I moved in with a roommate that was raised in the city and was never around guns.

I really, really wish the political reality was that ordinary citizen-patriots could stand non-agressively as guards, but it just couldn't happen without a major freak out. You would be labeled a fricken' psycho militia member and have your name dragged through the mud.

Did you read the earlier posted threats to Italy? This new threat dovetails with our earlier assessment of the Vatican being a target. UBL's writings appear to be a decent guidline for tracking potentials.
