HOMELAND INSECURITY
Backup electrical systems failed to kick in
A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained six days later.
Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

That is sad that you live in an area where people are afraid to get dirty. I'm glad I don't live in an area like that.
We also lived up and down the east coast when we did our rural medicine tour. I've never seen an area where groups didn't pull together during natural disasters.
I also saw first hand how an area will pull together during an UNnatural disaster, 9/11. We all got dirty.
Thank you Texas Bluebell.
Rotten SOBs in my book to do that to animals. I hope they get theirs, is all I will say.

Makes sense to me....TSA will love this...stip searches for all well-endowed women.
Whoops - sorry - I have been skipping ahead some in a vain attempt to stay half-way current. Darn work keeps interrupting my important FReeping!
Confirmed, no storms in Tallahassee. So that was not the cause at least.
I know, I know. I did this yesterday....But with all the Bird talk....I can't resist!
Sorry for what? You provided validation.
"Great minds think alike"
It appears that there was some kind of accident in Tallahassee. Don't know what kind though. Auto? Power company maintenance? Construction? Must have been a bad accident for such a large outage, or I guess it must have taken out some key power equipment.
How can they be a religion of "peace" with all that hatred?
China Executes Muslim Uighur Accused of Separatism
BEIJING (AP) - A Muslim has been executed on charges of seeking independence for China's Muslim-majority northwestern region of Xinjiang and making explosives, a court official said Tuesday.
Kuerban Tudaji, an ethnic Uighur, was sentenced to death June 30 and later executed, said Fu Rongqing, a spokesman for the Supreme People's Court in Xinjiang. Fu said he wasn't sure of the date the execution was carried out.
Death sentences in China typically are carried out shortly after the last appeal fails. Most executions are by gunshot to the head or neck, while some courts use lethal injection. Fu said Kuerban Tudaji was convicted of seeking independence for Xinjiang - or trying to "split China,'' in legal terms - and for making and transporting explosives and ammunition.
The human rights group Amnesty International issued a statement saying it "strongly condemned'' the execution and expressing concern that Kuerban Tudaji didn't receive a fair trial. China's communist government claims Uighur separatists are fighting to turn Xinjiang into an independent theocratic state and are part of an international Islamic terrorist network.
But foreign experts are skeptical of claims of an organized campaign. Opponents of Beijing's rule over Xinjiang say the government is using terrorism as an excuse to tighten control over a region that is divided from the rest of China by language, ethnicity and religion. Chinese leaders tolerate no challenges to Communist Party rule, but the extent of the crackdown in Xinjiang is unknown because of controls on information from the area. - AP Latest from AP-Wire
I did not see your post yesterday of Alfred (still behind in this darn ever-growing thread!). I like a pic of Alfred much better than a pic of Tippi (nothing against Tippi though).
And what about the women who smuggle drugs vaginally. That has even been done with horses. I have no idea how everyone can be physically checked inside and out whereever they go.
That is so true. The UN spouts off all the time about the U.S. And that is about it.
