time to hit hollywood hard

we need to call the companies who these morons work for . . . we need to call the people who sell their products . . . we need to call the movie theatres who show their movies and tell them NO MORE . . .,

America is now on strike against hollywood.

We should buy no more albums, no more newspapers, no more dvd's, no more cd's, no more movie tickets we should stop watching network tv . . .

And as a plus, when a friend starts to describe a scene in a flick, or to talk about a movie I can simply stop him and say that I have no interest in the movie. I never have to be polite and listen and nod as he plods through plot descriptions and such. Try it!

I'm lucky enough to be in a band with four non-smoking, good-natured conservatives. UNfortunately, they are all addicted to movies, and most of our travelling jokes revolve around movies that I've never seen. They point out how most movies these days are "homo-promos" but still go see the funny movies.

I personally cannot stand the brain-drainer movies like "Dumb and Dumber", but it's where the jokes come from.

I shut off our cable years ago, and don't go to movies in the theaters (LOTR being the notable exception). It's more peaceful without it, and we can rent the really old movies at the store for the kids for a buck.

I ditched the cable. Didn't go to the movies for seventeen years until LOTR came out. (Saw LOTR and The Passion. Don't expect to see any more movies at a theater.

The only thing I watch on TV these days is local news and some sports. I get by with Netflix, the Internet, and old radio shows.

Agreed I got rid of TV years ago I recommend it I feel less enslaved to a particular way of thinking - it's like a weight was lifted from me

I don't have TV, but I see it occasionally at someone else's home, or a hotel (where, I confess, I treat it as a novelty).

When they first started putting watermark logos on the screens, I found it very disconcerting. Sometime later, a friend had the TV on, and I saw the logo spinning around, turning into advertising. Sometimes other advertising would appear at the bottom of the screen. It was so distracting that I had to walk away.

I asked them, how can you stand it? Oh, you get used to it, they said.

Too late.

Due to globilization, Hollywood needs America as much as America needs Hollywood.

My guess is (M)TV, movies, and music have become such a big business that IF every republican "switched off" tomorrow, there wouldn't be a tremor..let alone an earthquake.

I know.....you are correct. It is just that I have a very set sense of fairness and the rules of engagement and the hatefullness of the left has gotten so powerful and unchecked, I am really ticked off.

My husband, also a musican,is in a band with all conservatives. They do originals and covers of blues and great 70's rock. He usually wears a pro-Bush shirt, has stickers on his guitar case etc. We have been shocked at how many people come up to him to tell himhow great it is to see someone in that arena who is conservative. In two years with thisband, and hundreds of gigs, the support has been 100%. Interesting.

Absolutely on target. For the full story on the Hollywood/Madison Avenue Cultural Axis, see The Conquest of Cool Business Culture, Counterculture, and the Rise of Hip Consumerism by MacArthur Genius Award winner Thomas Frank. The scales fell from my eyes when I read this. It not only exposes the HMACA's long-running love affair with the Left, it examines and documents the historical reasons for this relationship. I think it is the most important book of the last 10 years.

Apologists (and denialists) for lefty media bias are fond of asking why the leaders of the most capitalistic, competitive, and ruthless industry in the world, the commercial media, would sit around plotting to overthrow capitalism. Frank provides a comprehensive answer, and it lies in the short term needs of the advertising industry. The "left" as we know it today is little more than an advertising gimmick run amok. Traditional Marxists and other radicals have been quick to capitalize (excuse the expression) but without media support they would be a collection of cranks, rather than a powerful force for evil.

Gee, I wanted to see the new Manchurian Candidate movie this coming month. Since Streep is on the list I guess I'll wait until its on tv.

The entertainment industry is different than most industries in that, there is copyright protection (read monopoly) on everything. The entertainment industry does not provide a tangible good or service but provides "emotions". Emotions are the domain of "bleeding heart" liberals while thinking is the domain of conservatives. While most industries are some combination of sizzle and steak, hollywood is 100% sizzle. Finally, most industries try to provide a good value for the dollar, the entertainment industry's sole purpose for being is to be popular. This makes it a totally warped human endeavor.

If anyone in Hollywood had to use the movies I see, the DVD's I purchase and the CD's that go into my shopping cart to live on, they would be among the homeless the democrats care so much about.
