Hollywood's Bush-bashing act earns Kerry some bad reviews
KRT NEWS SERVICE ^ | July 10, 2004 | THOMAS FITZGERALD

NEW YORK -- Hollywood stars at a Democratic fund-raiser here late Thursday night ripped President Bush as a liar, "another cheap thug" and a killer in a night of Bush bashing that put the Kerry team on the defensive and provoked widespread criticism. Both Sens. John Kerry and John Edwards were on stage at Radio City Music Hall as the stars uttered their remarks. Neither one rebuked them. Kerry, in fact, said that every performer "conveyed the heart and soul of America."

Yesterday, Republicans called on the Kerry campaign to repudiate the remarks and to release a videotape of the concert so people can judge for themselves. Kerry aides reacted by saying that the stars' attacks didn't represent the candidate's thinking. "If John Kerry is going to praise last night's star-studded hate-fest and characterize it as the 'heart and soul' of America, he should share these values with voters everywhere," said Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman.

Even a song written for the fund-raiser captured the vehemence of the night. In a song called "Texas Bandido," John Mellencamp wrote, "He's just another cheap thug that sacrifices our young. ... You're going to get us killed with your little white lies."

In a statement yesterday, Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) said he was saddened, but not surprised, that Kerry didn't challenge the commentary. "Last night John Kerry held a fund-raiser in New York that featured performers in a time of war calling the president of the United States a killer, a cheap thug and a liar. John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briars," Miller said.

The stark contrast between Bush who promotes the "love thy enemy" message and Kerry who accepts the "side with your enemy" and "hate your protector" message will prove to be the number one issue this year.

Sounds like a bumper sticker to me...

"George W. Bush: 'Love your enemy'
"John F. Kerry: 'Side with your enemy'
"Michael Moore: 'America is the enemy'

Lather. Rinse. Repeat as needed.

--Zell Miller clearly sees what's going on in his party and the invevitable consequences.--

There are too many conservative democrates (yes they exsist) here in the south who will NEVER vote for this pair if they continue to act as they do. They dims keep saying the republicans are dividing the nation... then why is a democrat speaking at the republican convention?? How many republicans are backing s'kerry right now?

As I said before, just keep opening your mouth john, keep looking stupid.....

I wish the movie stars and well known musicians who support President Bush would do a special event so the American people can really see the contrast in values! It is past time to fight back the hate filled Socialist Democratic Party!

"we need them to display this behavior when everyone's watching"

Absolutely! With Kerry now daring to call himself
"conservative", I'm sure they'll try to wrap themselves in the flag in Boston, but cream isn't the only thing in the barnyard that floats and I can't believe they'll make it 48hrs without some major cow patties rising to the top.
After all, their "star" supporters will want to be heard, and an adoring media will be there to help them.

Want to ensure Ralph Nader gets on the ballot in your state? Go to:

http://www.votenader.org/

Check out the upper left hand corner of the page.

Help them with their petition drive in your state if applicable. At the very least sign their petition. Really want to have some fun, circulate a petition around among friends and family.

Let’s support democracy. Get Ralph on the ballot in as many states as possible.

And, like Clinton, Kerry has a kindly media that will simply not hold him up to the same standards that they will any conservative. Bottom line is Kerry is Big Media's guy, too. Big Media, Hollywood, Educrats--they are all overtly liberal (the media can even admit it now and not be held accountable--though Fox is about to be skewered for its conservative tilt with some newly released documentary). They are all overtly liberal, they are all busy at work enveloping our nation with a steady drum-beat of leftist propaganda, particularly our youth. The mantras repeated over and over and over and over benignly sinking in to the collective "heart and soul" of countless under-informed Americans.

Listen, when we sit in here and have our little "chats" don't you ever wonder how it is that so many could be so off base when it comes to understanding the building blocks of America--life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness? I mean, don't you ever kick back and say, "Wow! (and I mean a good, healthy, heart-felt WOW) at how hopelessly liberal so many people seem to be? Are they wrong on a lot of issues? I (and probably you too) feel that they are. Well, how did they get that way? How did they come to believe and trust in so much bad ideology? I suspect it's because it's what they heard over and over again. And it was heard in a vacuum, without any alternate ideology ever juxtaposed against the one that was pumped into them. The Leftist gospel of socialism, anti-capitalism, anti-Christianity, anti-traditional values has been given to our fellow citizens since birth. Left alone in front of a tv, the child was exposed to it. Brought to the Dewey socialist education centers (often referred to as public school), they were grounded in it. Pumped into their brain with high-decible rhythms, with vivid images on the big screen, with hour after hour of mindless inanity on the little screen, they were hypnotized with it. Next, planted like a garden, these seeds were tended to, nurtured, watered, cared for at the pools of the univeristy, where a new hybrid of mature fruit was developed and left on the tree to ripen. And the final ripening agent of media, and the overall climate this whole process creates (a national tug of war between traditional America with its Judeo-Christian underpinnings and the new socialist-state America with its promise of freedom unfettered, pleasures unmatched, all brought to you by the new Democratic [socialist] government being waged) finishes the job.

I suspect it was felt by many on the Right that this was something people just grew out of--as one got older, one learned the truth for himself. I'd say that is what happens in some cases, but I believe it happens in fewer and fewer cases today as the Leftist dogma has gotten more pervasive, more pernicious, more effective in capturing and keeping the "heart and soul". It does this with attacks on morality, with attacks on authority, with attacks on industry (hard work), with attacks on absolute truth, with attacks on all traditional values (the historical understandng of marriage is severely threatened today, if not on virtual life-support already).

When we talk about a heart, a soul, we have to dig deep to find out what it is we are actually speaking about. I suspect some in here would downplay these observations as being a little too much, over-stating the case. I don't beleive that for a minute. When you talk about the heart and soul of a person, you are talking about the very core of the individual. Look around you during the next days, weeks. See for yourself the "heart and soul" of the American people. Listen to their conversations, listen to what they are listening to (in some cases, you may feel the need to turn away). Listen and see for yourself the "heart and soul" of the American people. In many cases you will be pleasantly surprised. There are some wonderful people in America. In many other cases, though, you will be shocked--and saddened. You may even wonder if, in fact, the person who has gotten you so upset is, in fact, an American. Next, you have to ask yourself, "Is there a sufficient "audience" for the kind of message the Radio City "gala" pumped out the other day (sufficient, say, to put a guy like Kerry in the White House)?" I'm afraid you may well find that there is, if not today, then tomorrow.

Yes, he's a bad actor alright. He's a disingenuous arse. But I will say it's pretty obvious they attempt to copy the President's mannerisms and way with people, but Kerry cannot come off as original and it's very hard for him to say anything as he is not principled and a very bad actor on where he stands on an issue. He's really unstable. I get a laugh out of the attempt to act a patriot with the flag lapel pin-again copying the President. I love how they embrace the Michael Moore's and these loser lefties because it shows you where the nastiness is in politics and the hate and I see Mrs. Edwards added to it in talking about anger justifying those comments at that vulgar fundraiser. Of course Kerry didn't have time for a national security briefing because he had to go to such an important event to trash the President. They are the most despicable people.
