OK Freepers --
I just got a call from a friend of mine who went to see Farenheit 911 today.
She is a lawyer, but by no means a committed Democrat. She found the movie very compelling and said it has convinced her to vote for Kerry. She is very smart, but like most Americans doesn't follow politics very closely.
I need an article that is very credible, not overly partisan, and extremely well sourced and reasoned. I have seen this one, but wonder if there is anything better.
I know that there have been a lot of articles debunking the "facts" presented in this film, but I am looking for the absolute best and most comprehensive one, in the hope that she will be persuaded to change her mind.
Changing her mind will not have any impact on the election, since since we live in Massachusetts which will go for Kerry no matter how -- or even whether -- we vote. But I don't feel like listening to her telling me that Michael Moore is right for the next few months.
She is open to a reasonable argument, if I can find the right article.
Your help, as always, will be gratefully appreciated.
It was not the facts/lies of the movie that compelled her, it was the audience that swayed her. It's called the mass psychology of fascism. Every line that Moore uses is audience tested for reaction--just as Hitler did.
F 9/11 is dangerous when showed to a crowd. On video at home alone it would not convince or compell.
It's CRAP!
Unless she's hot. That's the thing about lib chicks - they're usually young and stupid. Thus easy marks for cads to use and abuse before they decide to settle down with a 'nice' girl. So, the Dems are good for at least one thing ...
The reason for this is pretty straightforward. Within 3.6 seconds from point he has briefed by an aide, Bush surmised the entire situation from prior vague intelligence reports, then began searching his mind for the location of his Superman suit. Bush knew that if he could remember where it was located, and find a nearby telephone booth, he could quickly put it on, fly around the earth against its rotation hundreds of times to turn back time, and then single-handedly fly in and keep the hijacked planes from ever taking off in the first place. Now where did I put my cape?
bump for keeps
Why would anyone, especially a lawyer, make a real life decision and base it on a product from an industry whose entire existence is dependent on projecting fantasy, special effects and make believe to enable people to escape from reality?
Having him appear at the movie's opening in Baghdad and face the angry crowd he would without doubt encounter.
Definite research BTTT!
I went to see the new SpiderMan movie over the weekend. I had two criteria for the location where I would see it, and I really thought that only one of the two conditions would be met:
1. The theatre(plex) could not also be showing Fraud-n-hype 9-11;
2. The aforementioned theatre could not show the preview for Fraud-n-Hype.
Amazingly, one theatre out here on the Left Coast, in Westwood, CA (near UCLA) fit the bill--the enormous Mann Village theatre. When the previews ended, and Michael "Two Million Cheeseburgers" Moore's "movie" was not previewed, I wanted to stand and cheer.
I suppose the best refutation of it is to go line by line and see where he has his facts wrong (you'll never win an argument over why Bush continued to read to those kids after he was told of the 2nd plane crashing into the WTC).
Start with the Carlyle Group and see if Bush and his father are really as connected to it as Moore makes it appear.
Is that what Michael Moore told you to say or did you come up with that all on your own?

bttt
You mean Michael Moore's fingerprints don't already refute the movie?
This thread needs a BUMP!
My blog entry on this movie links to some of the best refutations of the movie.

You have to conclude from this that the movie is utter junk.
Not to continue to give it credence through continued free publicity, as you just have done.
