Despite the lack of enthusiasm John Kerry has shown for his very own campaign, he will become the 44th President of the United States.
Although it can be easily argued that it is much too early to call this election, I feel confident that a majority of Americans are so disgusted with the actions of George W. Bush and his administration that they would vote for any candidate that does not come from Bush family lineage.
As it stands in the current polls, Bush and Kerry are neck-and-neck by percentage; however Kerry has a lead in the Electoral College with the added comfort that several swing states will most likely close in his favor. According to Republican pollster, Scott Rasmussen, Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon and Pennsylvania are in the "tossup" category. That's an additional 77 points that are going to swing Kerry's way. The remaining tossups will go to Bush giving him 48 extra points. The bottom line: Kerry 287, Bush 251. This would be a conservative estimate.

I thought this would be written by joe conason
That's not the electoral college breakdown *I've* been seeing.

An overly optimistic assesment, I'd say....

Gee, am I ever glad Shane's not subjective.
Scott Rasmussen ....... Wasn't he the dude that blew the 2000 call very badly? I wonder if his technique has improved that much?
My Dear Friend Shane: Were you born with your head stuck up yur rectum or was it an aquired trait? Just because you hate America and George Bush does not mean other more intelligent Americans share your view. However as you say many do hate George Bush and would vote for a Douchebag before voting Bush ,In that case John Kerry is their man because he is most certainly a douchebag.
It certainly is a shame when even the liberals admit their Presidential vote this year will be from hatred instead of a love for country.
Thank goodness that's not written in stone. The writer probably psyches himself up everyday by saying it 10 times before starting his day.
Is he a republican pollster?
George W.Bush will win, if he does something powerful enough to show the world: USA are still the boss!
Unless people will start feeling like: what's the difference between Bush and Kerry..Is Bush turning French?
Maybe French were right, etc..
That's my point of view, from here in Europe..From faraway.
I Emailed the guy. Just told him that all he was trying to do was pass his opinion of his disrespect on to other people.
Also let him know there are millions of us out there who disrespect him, and that it is too bad his position is not an elected one.
The site has an article which refers to Clarence Thomas as Scalia's "lapdog" & one titled "The Free Market's Massacre of Britain."
Come to think of it, I don't know.
Predicting the victor will be a piece of cake: Wait for Dick Morris' prediction and then count on the exact opposite happening.
Hah! This reminds me of the famous columnist (so famous, I can't remember her name) who was aghast that Nixon had won in a landslide, because she didn't know anybody who had voted for him!
We'll see in November, Mr. Know-It-All! (Not The Bandit, but the author of this article ;-) )
Dream on Shane. Maybe he's been wearing his "Beltway Blinders" too long. :-)
I see that the Washington Dispatch has an interesting Talk Back Forum. I especially like the remarks from Diana and southern pride (in the "How Sick is This Man" discussion).
Katherine Graham?
Actually, I depend on our own "Dr Deb". She usually has the best information and can disect the inside polls as well as the "who would you vote for".
However, with a Bush approval rating of 51%, I think it's waaaaay too early to make any predictions about Kerry winning.
