Well, first of all Limbaugh is an opinion show, not a news show, so the bias is acceptable, and the other side always has the option of expressing their views as well. That is not the case on NPR. The leftist bias is presented as fact and contained in every news report. Just try to get a conservative show on NPR and watch the howls. Rather than censoring Rush, why not give Al Franken a shot at a time slot? At the same time the left should offer Rush a chance to do a short news capsule on NPR.
Actually, yes. The decision to put Limbaugh on AFRTS in the first place came at the overwhelming request of the troops.
This sort of nonsense from Farrell is why we want government kept out of as much as possible. It leads to all sorts of, "Why is the public paying for ... X?" type arguments. It gives control freaks like Farrell and his ilk the excuse they need to try to run our lives for "our own good." Kiss my chair-shiner, Mike.
I think there's something in the Geneva Convention prohibiting that form of torture ...
(And, Mikey, you're not fit to carry Wayne Rogers' water...)
However, is it the government's responsibility to fund radio? NPR seems to do well in its own fund raising and AFRTS could be contracted out to Clear Chanel or even Haliburton and allow private companies decide through research and advertising sales what programming should be on AFRTS.
We (I) have done far worse things to our own pilots when captured but exercises while in the Army. If you think that what we did to these scumbags is "going too far" then I suggest you look at some of the people who lost their heads...Thats going too far.
My point exactly. Where have I heard this flip flopping noise before? Oh, yes, I was for it be fore I was against it.
Oh please, one interview of a conservative does not balance the daily, hourly barrage of leftist news coverage on NPR. Censorship is never justified, yet that is exactly what the left advocates. The motto of the left is tolerance for me, but not for thee.
All I am saying is to privatize both networks and let the markets decide.
"I did not say Rush should be kicked off AFRTS and I most emphatically believe he should not."
But privatizing the Armed Forces Radio would be a little difficult in foreign countries, would it not?
I'd pay to watch some DemoMarxistLeftistLyingLibs faces listening to Rush on their precious NPR..!! Now that would be a hoot..!!
I doubt it will ever happen.......though.
FRegards,
I know, it would really kill them. My guess is that Rush would actually do it for a short while, just to get the satisfaction of making them squirm. It would be too time consuming for him to do regularly, though.
Sorry, but if listing to port once more after a complete barrel-roll is tilting...then I guess you got it right.
They filter alright...right down to a 10th of a micron. And IMO...it's naive to think otherwise.
FWIW-
Former Marine or no, Mike Farrell is a maroon. Limbaugh was treating the Abu Ghraib prison situation the way it deserved to be treated. It was a stupid thing for the soldiers to do; especially the part about taking pictures, but it WAS NOT TORTURE!
I hope the libs get all publicy exorcised about Limbaugh. It will only create even MORE emnirty between the Dems and the military because, from what I understand, the troops LOVE Rush and wish he were on more than just the one hour a day!
That should be up to those who listen to AFRTS - the military - not the politicians in Washington. They think that if they snap their fingers and put some of Air America's shows on AFRTS that the military will listen to them. Give me a break! During my career in the military I wanted to listen to entertainment, not treason.
