Handcuffed in His Former Palace, Saddam Defiant
A video grab shows Iraq's deposed dictator Saddam Hussein appearing before an Iraqi tribunal in Iraq on July 1, 2004. Downcast but defiant, Saddam refused to recognize its authority and said the 'real criminal' was U.S. President George W. Bush.

Saddam Hussein defending his attack on Kuwait:

Sounds like Saddam is a poster on DU.

Here is one of their posts this morning:

I'm going to consider Saddam innocent until proven guilty

I don't know what his crimes are. I don't know whether he did things alone or with US or international backing. I don't know which acts of torture he OK'd and which were done by "bad apples" in his army. I would like to know if he hurt his own people, and whether his reasons were similar to the reasons we killed innocent Iraqis. I don't see any reason to want him convicted until I know he's guilty.

And another thing that comes across in his testimony--if planes had hit buildings in Bagdad, he wouldn't have sat there reading a book for seven minutes.

Look for the Dims and the media to shamelessly adopt this mantra. Heck, they already have, as we all know (substitute Saddam for the anonymous Arab in the cartoon below):

The AP lied and violated protocol by saying he arrived in handcuffs and chains and gave away the location of the proceedings. The media was told not to give away the location, and all the networks said he was not handcuffed or chained.

Next thing you know, the AP will reveal the judge's name.

So, the rats are going to hang their hat on the fact that you can't punish a sovereign leader.

So, Allawi can execute Saddam without question.

And, the implications on the rat strategy in the US don't go so well for the rats.

Saddam is playing to the Western media, to the left. Before this is over, the media would have you believe that it's Reagan and Rumsfeld and Bush on trial.

Saddam also declared that the country's occupiers could not strip him of his title of president.

Every chance they get, the court should refer to him as the "deposed ex-president of Iraq". Rub it in.

I can't stand these celebs - Saddam today said that he hates GW Bush AND THAT HE IS THE REAL CRIM - hmmm...it's the same thing these rich movie stars say also.

Have you noticed...the terrorists want Kerry to be elected and the rich left wing Hollywood stars want Kerry to be elected also!

Islamofascists and leftist stars share the same goals! Nice. How times have changed from WW2!

"The real criminal is (U.S. President George W.) Bush," Sadman said.

OMG, he's been given an ACLU lawyer, and he's been talking to Katie Couric and Mikey Moore....

"The real criminal is Bush".

I like to think I keep "current" on various newsworthy items. But I guess there is a bunch I don't know about Saddam.

Until today, I had no idea he was a card carrying Democrat, nor did I realize he obviously has deep roots in the Hollywood community. I also suspect he is a friend of Natalie Maines and the Dixie Chicks.

How else can you explain his saying EXACTLY what all of the above have been saying?

Just a thought....

What I am not happy with is the fact that some Iraqi's said this morning that Bush is the criminal and agreed with Saddam.

I switched over to MSNBC when Fox had on a Bush basher, and this is what I found.  They were interviewing Iraqi's on the street, and they said Saddam should not be in court.  That Bush is the criminal and he should be in court.  These were young men, too.

I have an uneasy feeling that Saddam will be set free and take over Iraq again.  If not bold faced, but underground.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The small sandstone-colored court building is next to a blue-domed mosque, and was formerly the imam's residence.

Is this a news story or a targeting memo?

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak my mind. I lost my job this past year. When Clinton was president I was secure and prosperous, but in the last year, we had to close our operations. We simply could not compete with foreign labor. This foreign labor worked for low pay under very bad conditions.

They worked very long shifts, and many even died on the job.

This competition could hardly be called "fair." I was forced out of the place where I had worked for 34 years.

Not a single government program was there to help me.

How can Bush call himself "compassionate?" Far worse, I lost two of my sons in Bush's evil war in Iraq. They gave their lives for their country, and for what? So that Bush's oil buddies can get rich. My pain of losing my sons is indescribable.

While it is trivial next to the loss of my sons, I regret to say that I also lost my home. I simply have nothing left. How can Bush call himself a Christian when he neglects people like me? I am a senior citizen with various medical problems. I'm not in a position where I can begin a new career. I was reduced to the point where I had to live in a hole in a ground, all because of President Bush.

And when the authorities found me there, did they have any compassion for my misfortune and ailments? No, I was arrested. Mr. Bush, I dare you to look me in the face and tell me you are a compassionate man! I dare you to look me in the face and tell me you are a Christian. If I had any money left, I would donate it to the Democrat Party.

If Al Gore had been elected in 2000 I would still have a job, a home, and most importantly, my dear sons!

Regards, Saddam Hussein
