WASHINGTON - Americans are deeply skeptical about the handover of political control to Iraqis when the country has not been stabilized, according to an opinion poll released yesterday.
By a 2-to-1 margin, Americans say the handover of political sovereignty to Iraqis now is not a sign of success but a sign of failure, because the country's stability remains in question, according to a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll. Still, three-fourths of the poll respondents approved of the U.S. handover of authority to Iraqis.

Boy, talk about NEGATIVE bias! Sheesh!
COME ON!!!!!!!!!!! Hasn't AP expunged the Clintonistas YET?????????? This is a jerked poll if I EVER saw one!!!!!!!
News! 60% of Americans have trouble understanding world events!
But the Iraqis took over on the 28th...The poll ended on the 23rd ?
i have no clue what to say about this... um... the plan was to handover end of June... it's end of June... we handed over... and that's a failure? if we didn't make the June deadline, that too would have been seen as a failure...
60% believe there are space aliens.
I would love to see the wording of this poll:
"Do you believe that the early transfer of government is a good decision, given the threat of violence and the U.S. military's inability to combat the heroic insurgency, or a bad decision that reflects the increasingly troubled occupation by the US authorities?"
Lead in with what's neagtive for Bush, as usual.
good catch!
Such foresight these pollsters have!
The negative spin continues; sounds like a push-poll with leading questions, e.g., "Do you think that the recent transfer of power in Iraq is a sign of failure?" rather than "Do you think the transfer of power in Iraq is a positive development?"
The AP has been spinning this as hard as possible. I cannot recall a single paragraph from the last two days from them that had a possibly positive slant.
AP: All negative, all the time.
(Well, at least until November 4th...)
Interesting. The poll was asking the question they wanted answered a week before the event.
Hell at least 60% think today is Monday.
And notice that they're "adults", not voters. That's the way to get the results you want!
Compared to what exactly??
48% polled were also unable to find their own ass with both hands.
