A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Bush - Cheney 04
Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Sorry I didn't acknowledge your replies before - had a severe thunderstorm and was forced to take Time Out! Isn't this a wonderful place Miss Billie has created??
I had to leave right after posting because my sis came home starving. If your rain is as heavy as what we've gotten you might want to go buy a river raft if you don't have one. LOL I'm beginning to think we're going to wash away.
Wonderful place indeed!! :)

Sign-Seekers
Read: Luke 11:29-32
This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Luke 11:29
Bible In One Year: Job 5-7; Acts 8:1-25
A skeptic once said to me, "I'll believe in Jesus if He comes down and appears visibly above my house." Not necessarily!
The Christ-rejecting religious leaders who requested a sign from Jesus had plenty of evidence for believing. They had undoubtedly heard of, if not seen, His miracles of healing, casting out demons, and even raising the dead. What more did they need?
Jesus therefore called them an "evil generation" (Luke 11:29). The only sign they would be given was the sign of Jonah the prophet, who had been thrown into a stormy sea (Jonah 1:2-3). When the Ninevites heard Jonah's message of repentance after he had spent 3 days in the belly of a fish, they believed God had sent him and they repented.
Likewise, the religious leaders who already knew of Jesus' words and works would soon see Him crucified and securely entombed. And in the following weeks they would hear personal testimonies from those who had seen Him alive, and had even touched Him, but they still wouldn't believe.
Today we have in the Gospels a record of what Jesus said and did, written by people who knew Him. If we are open to the truth, we have all the evidence we need to believe. We don't need to be sign-seekers. Herb Vander Lugt
If we desire to honor God,
We take Him at His Word
And ask Him not for special signs,
But trust, "Thus saith the Lord." D. De Haan
The sign of genuine faith is faith that needs no sign.

May your Summer weekend be as easy and carefree
as that of this wee lass --
Take time to appreciate the out-of-doors --
go on a picnic in some tranquil spot --
enjoy family and friends --
and thank the Lord for all the good things in your life.

Thank you for our Daily Bread, Rus.
" If we are open to the truth, we have all the evidence we need to believe. We don't need to be sign-seekers."
How true that is! Faith, we are told, is believing in things not visible to our human eye -- and trusting that God is present with us at all times.
He allows us free rein in going forward. When we establish a personal relationship with Him and seek His will for us, our travels are smoother.
It is up to us to make choices for ourselves, having the "road map" for our journey written down and passed through the ages.
Prayer time can be a two-way conversation with the Holy Spirit if we listen. Therein lies the ability to overcome all the foibles and challenges of this life . . .

Good morning, everyone, from the great city of Dallas. We are going to get lots of rain today but, that's God's plan and he doesn't make mistakes. I'll be back later.

Good morning and afternoon to all the Finest.
Am I too late to offer a Happy Birthday to our Billie Bluebird?
Well, here goes:
I've been away and offline for a couple of days cuz I've been moving to a new pad. Being without FR feels like not having my car keys in my pocket ... being back feels great.
Speaking of great, I hope that's the kind of weekend all you Freepers are having.
