Why?
Nothing, just sex.
to become Kerry's running mate?
Because he took his wife to sex clubs and tried to get her to have sex in public in front of strangers.
Republicans decided that he was a liablity and don't want him on the ticket.
Didn't stop Lieberman.
Ummm,, could it be because no one will vote for him? Republican or Democrat or Independant.
Jack Ryan is a perfect example of manly behavior

Men might do a lousy job of running the world, but if we turned the remote over to women, life wouldn't be nearly as much fun. Jack Ryan is just the latest example of this.
When Ryan first announced his intention to run for the U.S. Senate, he was supposed to be the perfect candidate. But quick. What's wrong with that sentence? That's right. He and perfect cannot go together. Men are flawed.
Oddly enough, some men refuse to admit this. George Will, for instance. He loves to prattle on about how smart men are, mainly, I suppose, because he is one. Of course, Will is the same guy who once branded Tony La Russa a genius, so that should tell us something about Will's judgment. At any rate, let me quote from a column Will wrote last year. The column was about Jack Ryan, the perfect candidate, and it carried a Chicago dateline.
"Six-foot-four and Hollywood handsome, he grew up in this city's northern suburbs, graduated from Dartmouth, simultaneously earned degrees from Harvard's law and business schools, then was made partner at Goldman Sachs where he made a bundle. Three years ago, when Ryan was 41, he walked away from moneymaking to start his real life. . . .
"Ryan, who keeps in moral and physical trim by going to Mass and the gym each morning, left Goldman Sachs to become a teacher." Will went on to proclaim that Ryan's example makes "the rest of us seem like moral slackers."
It is possible to make this argument only in a world where Bill Bennett can write books about virtue and Rush Limbaugh can argue for law and order - in other words, in a man's world.
That is exactly what the current brouhaha is about. Is this a man's world or not?
As everybody knows, our perfect candidate's campaign has hit a speed bump. This week, a judge opened Ryan's divorce file, and it turns out that Ryan's wife - a woman! - made allegations that Ryan took her to sex clubs and encouraged her to have sex with him while strangers watched. Making matters worse, during the Republican primary, Ryan had assured party leaders that there was nothing embarrassing in his divorce files. Those assurances now seem like a betrayal, at least to Judy Baar Topinka, who is state treasurer, state party chairman and, most importantly, a woman.
Most men, I suspect, don't judge Ryan so harshly. In fact, I suspect a lot of men were impressed with how he handled himself after his alleged sins became public knowledge. He pointed out that he had not broken any laws. He pointed out that after eight years of marriage, the worst thing his wife could say was that he took her to places where she felt uncomfortable. "If that's the worst, then I think people will say, 'Gosh, that guy has lived a pretty clean life.' "
In other words, it could have been worse. Husbands use variations of that argument all the time. First, you apologize.
"Honey, I know I didn't behave well last night at the party."
After a while, you minimize whatever it is you did.
"It isn't like I broke any laws. Nothing I could go to prison for, anyway. Maybe a few days in the county jail, but that's it."
The real beauty of the Ryan approach is the way he reinterpreted his actions. Instead of taking his wife to clubs where people were having sex in public and whips and chains hung from the ceilings, he took her to places where she was "uncomfortable." Well, heck. Some women are uncomfortable at an American Legion bar. How is a guy to know? What's so wrong with taking your wife to a place where she is uncomfortable?
By the middle of the week, Ryan was patting himself on the back.
"I think my character has been proven by this," he said in a radio interview.
Indeed, it has. He might occasionally hang from the chandeliers - or want to, anyway - but he lands on his feet. That's an admirable trait. In a man's world, he is still a perfect candidate, even if he doesn't make the rest of us seem like moral slackers.
mmmm...hot borg!
I'd actually say it's because he misled his supporters about the contents of sealed court documents. That, and he's not a Democrat.
Dan
Given his poll numbers are now in free fall (30% or less this morning) this comes as no suprise.
A bet the judge that released this divorce filing is very very pleased with himself about now.
Shame on him.
Why did the Judge open the Divorce papers when neither party wanted that?? Are ALL Divorce and Custody papers opened?
Hope Illinois can muster up a suitable replacement for the job. I nominate Senator Peter Fitzgerald.
Good news for GOP.. Ryan wasn't going to beat Obama, with or without this sex scandal.
Now find a candidate who can make this race close.
We could find out by demanding John Kerry's.
Oh, you're cruel!
