Iran seeks swap of Brits for suicide attackers

Report says 40 Revolutionary Guard 'volunteers' held by UK

Iran apprehended British military personnel and Navy vessels earlier this week in order to secure release of 40 "suicide operations volunteers" held by the UK, according to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard source.

The source told the London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the British Army command in Iraq received the demand from the Revolutionary Guard, reported the Middle East Media Research Institute.

According to the source, the content of the message was very simple: "Release our comrades, whom you are holding, and we will release your soldiers."

My concern would be that someone would be ready to detonate the nuke at a seconds notice and unless we hit the boat right where the nuke is being held, it would still go off. If someone's into jihadi martyrdom, they will want to keep their itchy finger on that switch as they approach the harbor.

It happens that I agree. Even if a dynamic explosion occurs and the whole boat "goes up" in one bang, nuke sinks, perhaps leaking. The point is, it takes a nuclear "trigger" to set off a nuke, right HipShot?

Okay, one last post before taking off. My guess is that if we had such specific intelligence that we knew exactly what boat/ship to fire on in the first place, there would be a SEAL clandestine takedown of the vessel while it was still far offshore and away from populated areas. This is a classic SEAL mission, for which they practice constantly. It was even featured in that movie with Charlie Sheen: "NAVY SEALS." If you saw it, you'll remember the line: "NEVER talk about....MOM."

In any case, they'd take down the vessel under cover of darkness, killing any terrorists aboard silently and when it was secured, chopper in a NEST team to deactivate the nuke. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if something like this has already happened. SEAL operations for the most part, have total secrecy. Any such vessel carrying a terrorist nuke would be unlikely to also have a "real" cargo that would be missed and inquired about, possibly igniting a Coast Guard search mission. So, if the vessel was sunk after the crew was taken out by the SEALs, only the SEALs, The President and OBL would know!
