Parents Beware: Shrek 2 Features Transgenderism and Crossdressing Themes

Summary: The DreamWorks' animated film, "Shrek 2," is billed as harmless entertainment but contains subtle sexual messages.

Parents who are thinking about taking their children to see "Shrek 2", may wish to consider the following: The movie features a male-to-female transgender (in transition) as an evil bartender. The character has a five o'clock shadow, wears a dress and has female breasts. It is clear that he is a she-male. His voice is that of talk show host Larry King.

During a dance scene at the end of the movie, this transgendered man expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming, jumps on him, and both tumble to the floor.

In another scene in the movie, Shrek and Donkey need to be rescued from a dungeon where they are chained against the wall. The rescue is conducted by pinnochio who is asked to lie so his nose will grow long enough for one of the smaller cartoon characters to use it as a bridge to reach Shrek and Donkey. Donkey encourages him to lie about something and suggetsts he lie about wearing women's underwear. When he denies wearing women's underwear, his nose begins to grow.

An earlier scene in the movie features a wolf dressed in grandma's clothing and reading a book when Prince Charming encounters him. Later, one of the characters refers to the wolf's gender confusion.

TVC's report "A gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" explains the transgender agenda and the effort to deconstruct the biological reality of male and female. DreamWorks is helping in this effort by promoting cross dressing and transgenderism in this animated film.

I asked my ten year old son if seeing Bugs Bunny get married to Elmer Fudd (and to Yosemite Sam in some versions, he reminded me) ever made him want to kiss or marry a man. The answer was a laugh and, "No!"

Don't let "society" and "culture" (e.g., Hollywood) get off because some people won't exert total discipline. That doesn't excuse putting out irresponsible immoral crap and packaging it for children.

So.... are you *with* my sister for letting kids see such questionable stuff,.....or do you object to Hollywood immorality and irresponsibility and refuse to patronize?

I can't tell by that last statement. The post is mutually exclusive as to how you'd actually judge my sis. OT1H, you imply it's bad let kids see such a movie. OTOH, you imply it's OK for "culture" (Hollywood) to keep doing what it's doing w/o any consequences - such as us calling it on the carpet.

The only way we CAN call Hollywood on the carpet is not to fund it.

I don't appreciate trash - not that I'm convinced "Shrek 2" is trash - but I have better and more constructive ways to spend my time than bitching about a film's non-effect on children I don't yet have, or on other people's.

Capable parenting overcomes the vast majority of bad influences.

I have a 6 and a 7 year old. Any mention of the word "underwear" makes them laugh uncontrollably. They could have dropped the word "womens" from the Pinnochio scene and my kids still would have found it hilarious. Too many church-ladies think our kids see the world through our own jaundiced eyes. Anyone who doesn't see the humor in underwear (either gender), gastrointestinal disorders, pratfalls, the words "butt", "bootie", and so forth, has NEVER had a (normal) 6-year-old boy.

Trick question for the chuch-ladies: what kind of underwear did Jesus wear?

Oh, get a life! No wonder the liberals are so successful in selling Christians as off-the-wall wacos!

I saw Shrek 2 with my grandchildren, I pronounce it harmless as well. It was funny. It shows 2 people refusing to allow themselves to fall for the "beauty at any cost" idea that is so prevelant in the movies. (the girls parents are horrified that their daughter has married an ogre) They are homely & chunky & they are happy with themselves & with each other. Anything showing transgender ideas will be missed by the kids.

Then conservatives pitch a fit and get their panties in a wad and prove them right. they're just trying to make us look like repressive prudes and i think they are doing a pretty good job of it. They do it mainly just to get our dander up, then it ends up backfiring on us. Just so they can tag us as being for censorship.

That was an abomination to us Barrie-lovers!

Well, OK, then you should like the latest version. But my kids, who have watched the Mary Martin, the Disney cartoon, "Hook" and the most recent one, say "Hook" is their favorite.

Have you ever read J.R.R. Tolkien's essay on J.M. Barrie's work?

I sure haven't! I did my senior (high school) research paper, and many a college/grad school paper, on "Peter Pan," and I ran into references to that essay, but never tracked it down in the limited time I allowed myself thanks to Olympic-level procrastination.

You think this is all overblown?(Shrek 2)One of the main ways that the homosexual agenda has sought to desensitize children is to have them exposed to homosexual themes(like cross-dressing/transgenderism) which are presented in a funny, harmless way.

I suggest you rent that Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers classic "Top Hat." If you want homosexual innuendo from the 1930s. This is nothing new. The double entendre in movies from the 30's is amazing. "The Thin Man" movies all had very suggestive comments in them. But these movies are considered harmless and children were allowed to see them back then. Amazing that the 40's and 50's weren't debauched decades full of people warped by these movies.

"You mean to tell us you have NEVER seen a cartoon in which Bugs Bunny dresses as a woman? You didn't watch much Bugs, did ya?"

As someone else tried to explain to you, times have changed. They are IN YOUR FACE about this. It is no longer funny. It's too COMMON PLACE.

Hey if you are a closet cross dresser and feeling attacked, well so be it.

I'm sick of it. It's so COMMON PLACE that it is no longer funny to me. It's sick.

Defend it all you like but times have changed.
