Ron Reagan, Jr. to be on Dateline
NBC | June 17, 2004 | Hildy

Posted on 06/17/2004 6:21:16 PM PDT by Hildy

Jsut saw a promo..to paraphrase..."his remarks at his Father's funeral have set off a controversy...." Is there ANYONE the media will not exploit to further their cause and bash Bush?

Sadly, there seem to be no biological descendants of RR.

Maureen is the only biological child of RR who has a child, but her child was adopted.

It will be interesting to find out who is really behind what Ron is saying.

This family dynamic is smoking. Michael has needed a great deal of grace to be able to continually forgive. He does have his father's genuine graciousness. It appears to be missing from the rest of the family.

Just now it is in short supply here, IMO.

Thanks, the name has been with me for awhile.

How were you able to listen to Rush in 1983?

Good question. LOL! I will be interested in hearing the answer to that one!

I think Sarah Brady is factually correct, actually. Reagan did change his mind on things like taxes and abortion in some cases, and has generally been seen as putting up a tough front, but compromising with the left. He famously had a good relationship with Tip O'Neill, who visited the White House at least once a week.

Yes I did, it's pretty obvious. But he will be all over the place now, doing the devil's bidding.

I can tell you listening to his voice made it a lot harder to enjoy the dog show.

I wondered about Michael not being in the room when his father died. I did hear one newscaster say he was on his way there... I think perhaps he was in traffic or something. Of course, I don't think his father's death was really sudden, but there seemed to be some conflict as to when it was realized that the end was near. Where does Michael Reagan live, anyway? In California?

"A eulogy is not the place to make the kind of sneering attack that Ron made against President Bush. I don't care whose eulogy it is."
___________________________________________________________
Ok, let's critique the remark. (It was a beautiful eulogy in my opinion by the way. )

I believe this to be what all the fuss is about. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ron said: "Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man. But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. True, after he was shot and nearly killed early in his presidency, he came to believe that God had spared him in order that he might do good. But he accepted that as a responsibility, not a mandate. And there is a profound difference. "

What am I missing? How is this a slap at Bush? Are folks suggesting that Pres Bush wears his religion on his sleeve for political advantage? I don't see this from Pres. Bush. Though I do see it in some politicians as Ron has suggested.

So exactly how is it that this remark has been construed by many, including yourself apparently, a slap at Pres. Bush? Connect the dots for me if you will.

thanks in advance

Perhaps you should watch Dateline tonight and maybe Ron will personally explain it for you. If HE says that's how he meant it, will you still deny that's what he meant?

Oh, and just so you know, in the weeks before Ronald Reagan passed away, there was a spin being put out by the Bush haters that George W. Bush is a religous fanatic who thinks he is on a divine "crusade" from God with a "mandate" to smite the evildoers.

When Ron P. said what he said, I knew what he meant.

As I say, tune in and maybe he'll spell it out for you.

You were watching the Reagan kids at the funeral....did you notice the smirk tutuboy wore so much of the time? And since I'm being u-g-l-y - he had to hunt for a while to find a woman as mean/ugly as his wifey is.

For obvious reason now, stem cell research is important to the Reagan family and they will now make it their mission.

Pres. Bush is opposing stem cell research. Now we know.

Ok, it is now apparent to me that his comment was a grab at the ole earlobe of Pres. Bush...look here buddy...

Mike was not there because he was stuck in traffic trying to get there. Guess she forgot to tell that part.
