Rush also assured us that others are gearing up to counter the leftist lies.

MORE ON THE 9/11 COMMISSION: Staffer Jonathan Stull emails:

I'd recommend that you look directly at Staff Statement No. 15 when discussing the Iraq-al Qaeda issue, specifically regarding the Commissions' hearing today. Note that the paragraph in question is on page 5 of the attached statement. I'd point out that it is but one paragraph in a 12-page statement. The AP and others have picked up on one sentence, which was carefully worded: "We have no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States."

The rest of the paragraph concisely summarizes the cases where we can identify cooperation and other connections where they exist.

The other relevant information is included on page 8 of Staff Statement No. 16. In the statement, which exhaustively discusses the 9-11 plot, we address the movements of the hijackers in the years leading up to the attacks. This paragraph addresses reports that Mohammed Atta met with an Iraqi intelligence agency in Prague on April 9, 2001.

While some have criticized the questioning during public hearings, I have seen few quibbles with our staff statements. I urge you to look over all of the statements.

In other words, the story is another movement of the goalposts... previously the Leftist line was "no Iraq/AQ connection". Now it's "no Iraq/9-11 connection".

Frontline had a program on Iraqi terror training. They mentioned Hamas, AQ, Arifat's group, and a few others. Why do people put this information on shows then ignore it?

Rush also said something that was pretty close to what I wrote to someone earlier this morning on private freepmail, to wit:

I wrote: "I suspect the DemocRATS are laying the groundwork with this Iraqi prison scandal to try and start impeachment proceedings against Bush when he is re-elected.

I think we should head them off at the pass by exposing what we think their intentions are ahead of time. We can frame their intent as being no different than what they always do when they don't like the opinions of the majority of the people in this country. They try to go around them with the activist judges they have installed for just that purpose."

I heard something interesting this morning: "The 9/11 Commission was intended to find the holes in our defenses that allowed the 9/11 attack and to make recommendations in their report on how best to defend against another attack and how to respond better if one does occur... The 9/11 Commission was not intended to find all the Saddam/Osama connections or Saddam involvement in 9/11...Who cares about 'out there' when it comes to our home defenses and responses 'right here'?"

Then they need to send out a press release to this effect.

It was great hearing President Bush answer that media hack. Anyone know who asked the stupid question and got an answer he surely didn't want!

Surely we can't expect the almighty media to actually read these things before they compose the headlines? /sarcasm.

Benv: This information seemed to have made its way into the public venue.....

As Perky Katie might say, "There are those who say that...." or "Some say that...."

Could that be how it might have gotten into the public venue, Ben?

"They HAVE found Iraq/AQ connections, but haven't found that Iraq was involved in 9/11....

And Bush has never claimed that Iraq was behind 9/11."

So does this mean that everyone is in agreement? Sure seems that way to me.

Connections = yes
Involved (SH) in 9/11 = no

Is that how it reads/seems to everyone else? The NYT editorial today also appeared to say the same thing (we could be in for some rough times here if all parties are in agreement - something like a planetary alignment and high tides).

Saying Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 is like saying Afghanistan had nothing to do with 9/11... although technically true, the fact that they provided support makes them guilty.

Well .. I have a great photo of a painting which our soldiers found in Iraq.

It shows a portrait of Saddam and next to it is a rendering of airplanes flying into the WTC.

Now .. can somebody explain to me why the leader of a country would have such a painting done IF THAT LEADER WAS NOT INVOLVED IN OR ASSISTED IN THE ATTACK. I mean .. Saddam supposedly thought he had a part in the attack.

I heard a former top CIA agent (I think his name is Waugh) say that it's ludicrous to think that plots at this level have memos written.

Even the Arab terrorists are not stupid enough to leave a trail like that.

Taking one sentence out of context and skyrocketing the misleading sentence to stratosphere proportions rates as YELLOW JOURNALISM.
