O'Reilly Blasts Hollywood's Goebbels

"Give Fox News Channel star Bill O'Reilly credit for even attending Monday night's lefty celeb-glutted premiere of Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' - even if he walked out of the 110-minute Bush-bashing movie halfway through," the New York Daily News said today.

The paper reports that on his radio program last week, O'Reilly compared Moore to the National Socialists' master of deceit: "Joseph Goebbels was the minister of propaganda for the Nazi regime and whose very famous quote was, 'If you tell a lie long enough, it becomes the truth.'"

But when Moore caught O'Reilly escaping the schlockumentary early, "O'Reilly blushed, shook Moore's hand and muttered something about having to 'tape something,' and then slunk off into the night," according to the Daily News.

Apparently the media star didn't miss much. Even though the audience was packed with such usual suspects as Tom Brokaw, felonious Democrat diva Martha Stewart, Mike Myers and New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr., the applause afterward lasted only 30 seconds and many people refused to stand, the New York Post reported today.

I seldom tune into O'Reilly anymore, but I did see Moore on the Factor once, probably after the Columbine mockumentary. It was not that memorable. Moore is smart enough not to get into a slugfest with O'Reilly. They both sorta danced around throwing little jabs. Basically, a yawner.

...O'Reilly is a self proclaimed "Independent"...

I'd call him some kind of ersatz "Populist". I am running hot and cold on ol' Mr. Bill.

He has more in common with Axis Sally and Lord Haw Haw.

I think it is also fitting to remind people that Leni Riefenstahl received a special rememberence at this year's Oscars ceremony (she was among the dead film stars tributed).

That a nazi propagandist (who's most famous film deified Adolph Hitler) was honored at the Oscars tells us all we need to know about Michael Moore's chances for future awards.

You're correct. She directed "Triumph of the Will." It is a Nazi propaganda film of the Nuremberg rallies.

While I will not go see this film, as a host on a widely watched and listened to talk program, he may need to be more in tune to what Michael Moore is releasing. Maybe he saw enough that went "over the line" that he did not need to watch more to come to his conclusion.

I know that I have walked out of a handful of films and not missed a thing. Even Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel would walk out (I think they stated that if nothing has happened in the first 20 minutes, nothing is going to happen although I have found this is not always so).

O'Reilly's idea of being 'independent' is intermittently alternating his attacks on the right and the left. I don't respect his waffling in this sense, but occasionally it can be a lot of fun watching him call people to task on their miscues.

the applause afterward lasted only 30 seconds and many people refused to stand

And those folks were applauding the people for not standing.

I just received in the mail "Reagan In His Own Voice", which is a compilation of Ronald Reagan's most notable radio commentaries from his weekly radio commentary show called "Viewpoint", which aired from 1975-1979. I highly recommend this CD-set to folks. It is outstanding and it is good to hear these commentaries of Ronald Reagan and in his own voice.

On CD #1, Reagan talks in a February 1975 about how under the guise of a "documentary", one of the Big 3 television networks produced "Cuba - The People". This documentary claimed that the Cuba of that day was well off thanks to Castro, etc.

From Ronald Reagan in February 1975:

"These days, when we're flooded with so many words on every subject, we need to check out some of those words before we accept them as gospel, including the use of the word 'documentary'."

Moore is a hack, who his is just disingenuous enough to call his "work" a documentary. He is intellectually corrupt - what more is there to say?

She filmed the 1936 (?) Olympic Games and Worked with Albert Speer filming his banner waving grandiose Nazi Rallies.Albert was Hitler's Propaganda Minister. She was ostracized by the film industry after the war. She just died a few years ago.

Have you noticed how many news orgs, even most of the left-wing loonies, won't refer to this swill as a documentary? Telling, huh?
