He just said the regime used chemical weapons on whole villages. If I were him I'd let sleeping dogs lie, and just drop the whole WMD of thing and concentrate on the tyranny aspect. He should concentrate on the fact that if we leave now, we basically leave Iraq in the same state that Germany was in the early 1920s. We would leave it vulnerable to some fanatic (religious in this case) coming in and turning it into another 1930s Germany.
I don't think people running for office should use scare tactics to win elections, but that is a part of the political landscape of 2004. History would be on Bush's side if he pointed out that if somebody pulled out the troops too early, that Iraq would come back to haunt us in the years to come.

He discussed this yesterday in a news conference along with the President of Afghanistan.

President Bush:
I want you to remember this: In 1947, two years after the Nazi surrender, there were still starvation in Germany, reconstruction seemed to be faltering. Soon Berlin would be blockaded on the order of Joseph Stalin.
Some questioned whether a free and stable Germany could emerge from the rubble. Fortunately, America and her allies were optimistic. They stood firm
The only hope for a secure America was a peaceful and democratic Europe. Because we perservered, strong in the face of adversity, firm on our values, Europe became what it is today.
...And the media wasn't exactly doing the best in the way of encouragement then, either.

And, of course, that means stay off the bridges when Teddy's in town... ;-)
LOL!, and in deference to Mary Jo's family, the "LOL!" is meant towards to Ted Kennedy.

Karzai spoke at a joint meeting of congress yesterday .. I haven't been able to watch it on c-span yet .. but it's interesting the media never mentioned it yesterdayAfghanistan, for the most part, has went much smoother. The demographics/target audience of most of the news networks seem to find good news boring and not worthy of their short attention spans.

Oh, wow! This was a barnburner. The military guys and gals love him too.
Now I have a warm, fuzzy and victorious feeling as I march outside to attack my garden weeds!

Surprised?
I'm all broke up about terrorists' human rights. If we gotta beat the info out of `em, we gotta do it without any remorse whatsoever. F*** their rights. How about the rights of the folks who died on 9/11, like Barbara Olson? Who speaks for them?
Amnesty International sure as hell didn't. Hell, Amnesty International helped spring Ahmed Hikmat Shakir!

What would America and the world be like at this time, without , your President, I cant imagine, these people would walk all over us, I am so glad hes there.
To: cyncooper
I detect a ramping up of the terrorist aspect and WMD threat of Iraq. Yes, just a ramp up, but there it is. Good. He's been way too cautious and defensive on the WMD issue.
To: hchutch
Thing is .. were aren't doing that .. the media/press refuses to report the truth of what is happening at Gitma

E-mail from Guantanamo Bay Good news a well-kept secret
But I am amazed that Members of Congress are more concerned about the lives of Terrorists that want to kill us .. then they are of American lives
That is truly scary
