A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Suggestions on how to live a happy & rewarding life:
|
Take time to smell the roses.
Discipline with a gentle hand.
Rake a big pile of leaves every fall and jump in it with someone you love.
Volunteer. Sometimes the jobs no one wants conceal big opportunities.
Have a professional photo of yourself made. Update it every three years.
Never miss an opportunity to have someone rub your back.
Never miss an opportunity to sleep on a screened-in porch.
Create a little signal only your spouse/friend knows so that you can show them your love across a crowded room.
Drive as you wish your kids would. Never speed or drive recklessly with children in the car.
Dont judge people by their relatives.
Remember that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something.
Dont admire people for their wealth but for the creative and generous ways they put it to use.
Remember that just the moment you say, I give up, someone else seeing the same situation is saying, My, what a great opportunity
Dont let your family get so busy that you dont sit down to at least one meal a day together.
Remember the three Rs Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
When you lose, dont lose the lesson.
Plant zucchini only if you have lots of friends.
Every so often, invite the person in line behind you to go ahead of you.
Dont go looking for trouble.
Dont buy someone elses trouble.
Meet regularly with someone who holds vastly different views than you.
Be the first to fight for a just cause.
When you have the choice of two exciting things, choose the one you havent tried.
There are people who will always come up with reasons why you cant do what you want to do. Ignore them.
Never say anything uncomplimentary about another persons dog.
Never miss a chance to dance with your wife.
When boarding a bus, say hello to the driver. Say thank you when you get off.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
Set aside your dreams for your children and help them attain their own dreams.
Dont confuse comfort with happiness.
Dont confuse wealth with success.
Be the first to forgive.
Check for toilet paper before sitting down.
When a good man or woman runs for political office, support him or her with your time and/or money or both.
When a friend or loved one becomes ill, remember that hope, positive thinking AND prayers are strong medicines.
When you see visitors taking pictures of each other, offer to take a picture of their group together.
Help a child plant a small garden.
Call a nursing home or retirement center and ask for a list of the residents who seldom get mail or visitors. Send them a card several times a year. Sign it, Someone who thinks you are very special
Once a year, go someplace youve never been before.
Whether its life or a horse that throws you, get right back on.
No matter how old you get, hug and kiss your mother whenever you greet her.
Watch The Andy Griffith Show to help put things in perspective.
Put love notes in your childs lunch box.
Thank those who open the Finest door every morning with coffee, goodies and words of wisdom.
Give thanks for all our Finest Friends.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Ahh lovely! I'm glad my parents' house has central air!! Guess I won't plan on doing much outside, especially since it has barely hit 80 here so far.
Do you live in GA, or just follow their weather?

I live in the North Georgia mountains near the North Carolina line. Went to Atlanta today, had to take my mom to the doctor and it was plenty hot down there. The A/C in my SUV had a hard time keeping up.
What part of Georgia are you going to?

I Googled Jeff Stahler but could come with nothing on Clinton's book tour. Ink had a beautiful day chasing sticks in nerely 90 degrees. She loves it. I shared some of my Father's Day package with her ( cybersent by my middle son from Santa Barbara) a lot of head cheese and sausage. That kid knows how to push the right buttons. Tell Giz to slow down.

I grew up near Gainesville, but my parents live in Ellijay now. I'm flying into Atlanta, spending the night in Ellijay, driving to Piqua Ohio, spending 3 nights there, and then driving back to Ellijay for a week, and then flying home. I think this is going to be one of those vacations that you need a vacation from! :) I am hoping to be able to go to Stone Mountain for the laser show and fireworks sometime the weekend of the 4th. It's an old family tradition that I have come to miss greatly. My dad's birthday is on the 2nd, and I can still remember celebrating his 40th at Stone Mountain. I haven't been able to find anything equivalent up here yet.
Well, I have to be up early in the morning to drop off the work I finished typing today, so I'm off to bed. I'll catch up on what I've missed tomorrow.

Didn't know you were a Georgia girl, I used to live near Gainesville for about 18 years. That area has changed ALOT over the years.
Ellijay is a beautiful area in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, I'm about an hour north of there.
Will catch up with you tomorrow. Rest well. :)

It's 5:09 a.m. Just got back home. Emma has arrived from Heaven and is perfect. She weighed in at 5 lb 3 oz. and 18 1/4 inches. Her hair is dark, but looks like it might turn red. She is beautiful. Thank you for the prayers. Continue the prayers for a few days just in case. She is a preemie after all. We are praising the Lord and having hearts full of gratitude. I'M A GRANDMA!!!!! Thank you Lord. (Forward to the spoiling.)

Thank you for visiting the site...and for those very kind words...they are too kind.
I hope and pray that the life, example and legacy of Ronald Reagan will live on in us all...that we will do our own part for faith, home, family, liberty and the American way.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Thank you for your cute graphic and the sentiment that went with it, Victoria. We appreciate you and your thoughtfulness!
