I never expected this out of Fox Newx - a positive review of Moore's movie

Posted on 06/15/2004 1:10:11 AM PDT by Carlo Gambino

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,122678,00.html

The crowd that gave Michael Moore's controversial "Fahrenheit 9/11" a standing ovation last night at the Ziegfeld Theatre premiere certainly didn't have to be encouraged at all to show their appreciation. From liberal radio host and writer Al Franken to actor/director Tim Robbins, Moore was in his element. But once "F9/11" gets to audiences beyond screenings, it won't be dependent on celebrities for approbation. It turns out to be a really brilliant piece of work, and a film that members of all political parties should see without fail.

If you go to the Home page, you will be enlightened...If you are here to promote the Kerry candidacy you are in the wrong place...

On this forum we think the Kerry supporters are Kool Aid drinkers and that Kerry is a danger to the nation's security. The fact that he has been rated the most liberal Senator is telling, also.

After watching the rambling, boring, and peurile "Bowling for Columbine", I will not watch anything further from Moore. If I'm interested in leftie agitprop, I'd simply read Thomas Frank, Doug Henwood, or Chris Hitchens rather than partake of Moore's pop liberalism.

This review is by Roger Friedman, their gossip columnist and resident lib.

He spent about two months attacking Mel Gibson and "Passion of the Christ" and regularly serves as an apologist for Michael Jackson.

Hannity's mental ability if converted to electricity couldn't toast bread. He's a complete parrot. Its a good thing he's good looking, because that's what carries him, not intelligence or independent thought.

"You people do realize that there is still a net job-loss of over a million jobs, right"?

WRONG! The economy was in the crapper well before klintoon retired from office. You see, I have owned my own business for over 30 years, and we were suffering a receding economy, tethered to higher prices starting from the fall of 1999. It is a proven fact that the recession began in October of 2000. President Bush did not take office until January 2001. It was (11 MONTHS) into his first year in office, before any of President Bush's economic programs were implemented. We were in a deep recession by MARCH (according to OFFICIAL US GOVERNEMNT FIGURES)! President Bush has overseen the fastest growing economy in the history of the US. The economy is BOOMING, and it is not the kind of house that klintoon built on shifting sands!!!

"Kerry can also talk about the deficit, which is the largest in history"!

Oh you little troll!!!! klintoon's tech bust, his overseeing the conditions leading to Enron, Global Crossing, MCI, etc, coupled with his ignoring Al Qaeda and its declared war on the US (and 9/11 which was planned, manned, and set in place during klintoon's watch), all led to the crushing (temporarily) of our economy. After winning two wars, killing 75% of Al Qaeda leadership, passing a huge return of money to the people to which it belonged, our country is once again returning to greatness!!! Projected deficits have shrunk from 500 billion dollars, to 270 billion (and still shrinking)! This is due to GROWING THE ECONOMY, AND REDUCING DEBT THROUGH INCREASED TAX REVENUES, FROM INCREASED PROFITS AND INCOME!!! The paper budget surplus (under klintoon, and authored by a Republican controlled Congress) was created by a growing economy, which raised Federal Revenues. This is now being repeated under President Bush's watch! After reading crap like moore, I know that you liberals have limited storage for real data. That is no excuse for not at least trying to understand reality as it is!

"Or how about the outrageously high gas prices? $2.50 a gallon!? Never was that high during the Clinton Admin".

GAS is DROPPING in PRICE like a LEAD BALOON. Adjusted for INFLATION, GAS should be selling for $4.50 A GALLON today.

"How about interest rates, mortgage rates, which are all higher during this horrible administration compared to when Clinton was president"

Put down that crack-pipe, and join the real world. Interest rates are at an ALL TIME LOW, and mortgage rates have been also. Housing starts, and home sales have exceeded anything klintoon ever witnessed.

"Not to mention all the money going into Iraq, which could be going toward homeland security, and public schools (No Child Left Behind Act is a disgrace)".

Iraq is the front in the War on Terror! Every terrorist killed in Iraq, is a terrorist that cannot attack us here in this country. Afghanistan, Iraq, and soon the rest of the ME will be on the road to Democracy, and with these newfound freedoms will come prosperity, and the end to thousands of years of barbarism that has permeated the ME. You are far too short sighted, but reading crap like moore will lead to brain cell death! Federal spending on EDUCATION is 58% higher under Bush, than it was under klintoon! What you do not like is that teachers, and schools must perform, or lose bucks just like in the real world (which you are oblivious to, due to your indoctrination into socalism!

Go back to the DU TROLL! Tell your buds that Pubbies do not just want to win, but we are working towards the absolute DESTRUCTION of your party. Thanks for all the help that you DUmmies have been giving us in our endeavor!!!

LLS

Rupert Murdoch is by and large conservative in his views

I am asking a sincere question, no sarcasm intended. How do you know that Rupert Murcoch has conservative views? I have not yet seen or heard anything that he has personally said or written at all. I wonder how a conservative could own something with as many crass sitcoms as the Fox broadcast channel airs. It should go against his principles. Also, the getting married 5 times is a bit of a red flag.

Can you ease my mind by telling me where to find info about Murdoch.

Fox is not an unbiased network. It's just less liberal than the others.

They hired NBC castoffs.

I have lost much reliance on fox.

It seeps they just have been hiring blond lookalikes rather than any conservatives.

As I said, his views are "by and large" conservative. And it should also be acknowledged that the US brand of conservatism as espoused at FR often differs greatly from the conservative thinking found in Australia and the UK, which is what largely shaped Murdoch's views.

US Conservatism is often far more "moral" and "religious" than the Aust/UK model. Murdoch papers are renowned for their racy style (Page 3 girls etc) combined with solid conservative domestic and foreign policy positions. Even Murdoch's support for New Labour can still be judged as a conservative position in that a) New Labour has largely abandoned the socialist positions of its past and b) Murdoch papers like the Sun and NOTW amplify support for "traditional" conservative views on immigration, the EU, support for the US alliance when New Labour does.

You also ask how I know Murdoch is conservative. Easy - I'm born Australian and currently live in the UK, I'm media trained and I've lived in a Murdoch media environment all my life. I've seen his actions across a wide variety of governments and crises and believe me, he's conservative.

But, as I've said above, he's concerned more than anything about making money. He's seen in the past that a rich niche exists in providing conservative/right leaning media in what is an almost exclusively liberal mediasphere (sorry, for the jargon, it just comes out!) and he has exploited that.

There are a number of excellent biographies about Murdoch, notably by one by William Shawcross called "Rupert Murdoch: Ringmaster of the Information Circus". Its pretty heavy going but also excellently researched and written. Murdoch achievement in parlaying one small newspaper in a middle sized Australian city into a global media empire is simply astounding and Shawcross charts it well.

Also, its worth noting that he's "only" been married three times. That said, we could both name plenty of supposedly rock-solid conervative figures who have feet of clay when it comes to their own personal lives. Rush Limbaugh springs to mind, amonst others.

If you want to know more about Murdoch, read Shawcross's book and spend some time reading his UK publications, especially The Times and The Sunday Times.

Fox is not on our side. Part of their backroom connections with the enemy were documented in The New York Times yesterday. (The News Corporation is the parent corporation of Fox.) NYT said, "The News Corporation turned to the Glover Park Group, a media consulting firm whose partners include Joe Lockhart, who was a press secretary under President Bill Clinton; Michael Feldman, who was a senior adviser to Vice President Al Gore; and Howard Wolfson, who was Hillary Rodham Clinton's chief spokesman during her United States Senate campaign in 2000. The introduction was made by Gary Ginsberg, a former adviser to President Clinton who is now the News Corporation's executive vice president, according to people involved in the discussions." A "Mandatory DU Read" Bump for truth! Great post!

After a road trip to Florida, I don't fully buy into the notion that gas prices are "dropping like a lead balloon".

However, they are dropping and, other than that one small point, I wish I had said what you said so well!
