Well if Los Angeles were required to change it's name, so would San Diego and San Francisco.

How are we going to stop these Taliban like lefties? Do you think it would help if no democrat ever got elected to office anywhere, ever again?

Whoo boy, I must be hitting that one beer too many, I only live in Hudson County, NJ! I think its about 125% Dem here.

The town of Port Angeles in my neck of the woods is on the ACLU's radar as well, I'd imagine.

violates the constitutional requirement for separation of church and state.

I can't say I've ever seen a Constitutional requirement for "separation of church and state.

Is my copy of the Constitution defective?

"its formal name, "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion"
Well, then how about calling LA just "the little portion"? Surely noone would want a LARGE PORTION of it. I wouldn't.

If they change Santa Monica to Monica, the nickname will spring up instantly --- B.J. City.

I mentioned the same thing when they were fighting over the tiny cross on one of the Cali city flags...

St. Helena, San Anselmo, San Bernardino, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Clemente, San Dimas, San Fernando, San Gabriel, San Jacinto, San Jose, San Juan Bautista, San Juan Capistrano, San Leandro, San Luis Obispo, San Marcos, San Marino, San Martin, San Mateo, San Pablo, San Pedro, San Rafael, San Ramon, San Ramon - all gotta go I guess.

Just about every town and many of the counties in CA are named for saints.

I guess the mission bells on the highways will have to go next.

It must be in the "penumbra" of "Congress shall make no law ........prohibiting the free exercise thereof......". < / sarcasm>

And no more naming any other California cities after saints. San Francisco would have to become...let's see now... "Francisco y El Puto".

I don't know what's going to kick off the second Civil War in this country, but I know what the political affiliations of the two sides are going to be.

And to be generous, at this rate I think it's going to happen in the next 30 years.

How about we rename Los Angeles, "La Ciudad de la ACLU Can Eat My Shorts"?

"It's far-fetched at this point. I don't think it's going to happen in the next 10 years

IMHO we can look foreward to the day when the ACLU demands all churches remove all religeous symbols from their exteriors, so as not to "offend" passersby.
