that's not accurate - the line continued for over an hour and near everybody in attendance at the funeral proceeded past the casket after Nancy's departure

The other folks in attendance did file past the casket and stop in front of it, but no one, other than family members it seems, actually went up on the platform where the casket was placed.

Who knows why Nancy wanted such a public farewell to the president. Frankly, I'm not going to ask. I'm just happy and ecstatic that we all had the chance to be included. Seeing the massive outpouring of respect and admiration from the masses for Ronald Reagan may have helped her show the Fifth column Leftist traitor press establishment that though they continually dismissed RR's stature throughout the '80's, he was loved by the people-those whose opinions and thoughts about RR that really count.

The national grief no doubt lifted up the Reagan family in ways that cannot be quantified. The end result has been a win-win...for Nancy, the family, the nation and posterity. The Left and establishment media cartel were reduced to gritting teeth and going along. With some radical elements making their snide comments and still other fringe whacks openly spewing their hatred.

I agree with your daughter...watching the internment service last Friday, I was disturbed by the whirr and click of still photographers as the Reagan family paid their final respects. It sounded as though there was an army of print photographers at the service. Out of respect for the family, some sort of pool arrangement should have been established, with no more than 3 still photographers shooting the event. TV has used this system for years, and it works very well...I thought the racket from those cameras Friday evening was an intrusion on the Reagan family's privacy....

The elderly lady at President Reagan's graveside was Bess Reagan, the widow of his older brother, Neil Reagan. Neil passed away on December 11, 1996, at age 87.
