So what if Ron gave an immature dig to politicians who use religion for personal advantage. He was obtuse enough we aren't sure who he was talking about. He should have meant Clinton, he most likely meant Bush, but he could have meant his half-brother Michael. But in the overall scheme of things, what does it matter? He otherwise did a bang up job for his Mother and the people there, who loved his Dad.
General Jack who sheparded, guided, comforted, and talked Mrs. Reagan through the week, should get another star for the way he, his aide, and his Command performed. Magnificent!
I'm going to stop saying California should drop off into the ocean. Those normal Californians were fabulous! (I'm glad...I had a baby at Fort Ord.) And I'm going to stop saying "our country is going to hell in a handbasket". We aren't! This week allowed us the chance to see how we value greatness, how we cherish tradition, how unified we can be, and how well behaved.
The spontaneous displays of love and respect the country showed to President and Mrs. Reagan must rankle the left. Let them seethe in a sea of meanspirited hate. We have seen how we can rise above them.

Oh, me too! The gentleness and compassion - and respect and gratefulness - that was evident when he handed the flag to her and spoke softly to her were unutterably moving.
Every time I hear him talk I lose more respect for Buchanan. Not much left to lose by now.
I can't help but think Reagan was sending messages to the people through this service. The grandeur to showcase our military, the beauty of traditions, love of country and mainly the messages about God, grace and the wonderful hymns leading people to Him.
How so like Reagan to think of others instead of himself in his final goodbye.
Ron Reagan the child comes across as a character straight out of 'Atlas Shrugged'. Too bad Ayn Rand isn't still around, I would love to see her 'thoughts' on him....
I just read the text. What a disgrace. What an ugly comment. There was also a dig in the following line towards Christians in general.
one of our friends was in the Army in the late 60's and VERY early 70's, his duty in the service was to prepare for the funeral in case Harry Truman died. That's all they did, was train and practice in case of his death.
The AF Honor Guard contingent is at Bolling AFB, DC.
Best Officer's Club in the Air Force -- bar none. Best food, best atmosphere -- it would be though because of all the AF rank living on the base.

When Ronald Reagan was sworn in as our President, I was 30 years old. That seems like so long ago. Those of us who lived those years watching the master at work, were so lucky. Today is a sad day for me, but my oh my what a ride it was.
Thank you President Reagan. Every moment was a real pleasure. Watching you reshape the world, most important of all the United States, was wonderful.
I have been a lucky man to live in these times. Ronald Reagan lives on in my mind. He's just around the corner from some camera that will show us a glipse from time to time. I'll cherish each and every one of them, as I have each to now.
Farewell Mr. President. You showed us how it is done. May each of us raise the level of our game in your honor.

Allow me to second that. It is wonderful at times like this to have a place where you know everyone truly understands. Especially for those of us with liberal family members and friends.
It must really suck to be Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter right now. Neither of them are exactly spring chickens, and they have to know there's no way their funerals will be anything close to what Ronald Reagan received this past week.
I keep reading about all of these people- that lined up to see him, that lined the road to the library, etc. Does anyone have any pictures of these?
