Some hate-filled leftist called C-SCAM this morning complaining bitterly about the pomp and ceremony, and went on about how DARE a US military band play "God Bless America". Expect the ACLU fo file a suit next week against the U.S. military for playing blatantly Christian hymns.

ACLU-approved hymns for future State ceremonies: "O Us, Our Help in Ages Past"
"Secular, Secular, Secular"
"Deitylessness Bless America"

Everyone should have muted their TV's like I did when Ron was speaking. It was predictable that he would make a fool of himself and take a cheap shot at someone.

I go back to hearing the President's speeches starting in 1994, and I have never heard him deliver one like I did today -- not even 9-11 aftermath.

Believe in the power of prayer!

They would not use a backhoe to tear up the plaza. There are probably two crypts underneath, and they'll just need to use a lifting jack or something similar to lift up the lid.

But they'll need some motorized equipment (a backhoe with a couple of chains) to lift the casket while the large stone is moved. And, you're right, there is probably a pre-prepared crypt already in place.

Many people are carrying the same colored bibles or prayerbooks. They must be from the funeral?

Ronald Reagan, Jr. used the pulpit at his Father's funeral to slam George W. Bush. That's the bottom line.

Glad to know I am not alone in thinking this.

I want a cd of all these hymns to go to sleep by

I bought some CD hymns a few years ago at the Catholic Shop .. it was during the 2000 election .. it helped me with the stress and to clear my head .. very peaceful

I'm thinking I need to pull them out again

"was that Chris Wallace from FNC?"

I heard someone on FNc mention earlier (may have been Brit) that Chris Wallace used to cover RR at the White House. That explains the choke-up.

". . .after he was shot, he took the fact that he survived as a responsibility; not a mandate. I sucked in a breath at that. It really was a direct swipe at President Bush."

. . .felt like more than a swipe; thought if the prelude to the cannon salute. I was taken aback at the vitriol that clung to the word 'madate' as it jumped out of Ron's mouth.

Thought it an unfortunate choice for the occasion; and very un-Reaganesque.

I think these people are the staff now - choir, media crew, band, security, Library staff, etc.

We must be getting to the end of the attendees. I've seen people with headphones, etc. going to the casket.

I have stayed connected today with a country full of people who laughed and cried and shared. Thank you!

Same here.

And, forgive this commercial - if everyone who has been on the RR threads this week would be a contributor, then those annoying Freepathons go away.
